2005: The Year For ‘A-Force’?

ByBoxing Press 22/11/200412/05/2013
Former Olympic super heavyweight champion Audley Harrison fought three times in 2004, defeating two undefeated fighters along the way to claiming himself the WBF heavyweight title. It is almost five years since his Olympic triumph and many of the Olympic class of 2000 have progressed much further than

he has. Miguel Cotto is the WBO light welterweight champion, Rocky Juarez is on the cusp of world title honors and middleweight Jermain Taylor is about to engage William Joppy in an exciting middleweight confrontation. Harrison has been inactive for the last half of this year though and he blames the fruitless negotiations he and British promoter Frank Warren indulged in as the main culprit. Those debates, yielding no positive conclusion in sealing exciting fights between Warren fighters Matt Skelton and Danny Williams apparently left Harrison exhausted and jaded, needing time away from the fight game for a while. Though he has indicated 2005 as the year when he will take the heavyweight scene by storm, the boxing world still awaits Harrison’s declaration of what will be his first step towards hos goal. Saddoboxing.com will bring you the latest on this story as it develops.
