No, La-la Joe, Don had an indogenous problem. You are not a comedian, La-la Joe.

Sorry about that, BooBoo. It was my lame attempt at humor, guess it wasn't funny for you.
Oh, by the way, its "Endogenous", my friend.
I'm not a comedian and you're no physician.
Capisci quello che sto dicendo, BooBoo?

Well Latte-Joe, let's put it this way, my good friend: Dr. Boo-Boo is not a speller but is 'medico bueno'.

One of the dirtiest ... ( 6 months ago by Aurelian147)
One of the dirtiest championship fights in heavyweight history. Even by the standards of the time it was dirty. All night long Cockell was butted, elbowed, hit low, hit after the bell, hit on the break and even hit while he was down. But alas the ref was as ignorant of the rules of boxing as Rocky and everything was allowed to pass. Even the American journalists at ringside were critical of Rocky's antics.

Have you even seen ... ( 5 months ago by Aurelian147)
Have you even seen the fight? I suspect not. Before he fought Marciano, Cockell had already been KO'd by middleweight Randy Turpin and journeyman Jimmy Slade. Very game, but no granite chin.
Don Cockell was one ... ( 5 months ago by PUGCAT)
Don Cockell was one rugged little fat guy! Doesn't say a lot about of Marciano's power if he was hitting Cockell at will for 8 full rounds.
Don Cockell is just ... ( 4 months ago by PeteThePrinceFTW)
Don Cockell is just wobbling and bobbling around taking shots and avoiding shots, side-stepping, tripping around. He was just getting mulled and dominated on the whole fight. He had a lot of guts in this one, took some good shots and Rocky definitely hit him hard and hurt him. I think Don has an alright chin, I'd say puffing up helped him stay up slightly better, but it was heart that kept him it. And Rocky was sloppy and slightly off, still good.
Great comments from ... ( 4 months ago by killpolitics)
Great comments from Bert Sugar! Spot on as usual - the British with their Marquess of Queensberry rules, Charge of the Light Brigade, gallant fighter etc. What a laugh! "Why waltz for 10 rounds when you can knock em out in one?" just about sums it up. If Sugar is priceless, Marciano remains peerless. The greatest, toughest fighter ever to have stepped into the ring.
Too bad Tony ... ( 4 months ago by PUGCAT)
Too bad Tony Galento was long retired, that would have been entertaining. Reminds me of a house cat how he stalked and struck with the left hook.
Galento had never ... ( 4 months ago by killpolitics)
Galento had never been floored before he met Louis and had a string of KOs to his credit. Fat, undisciplined & grossly overweight, Galento relied on his left hook, yet was still able to deck Louis. If he was able to do that to Louis he'd have killed plenty of ball-less heavies from the post-70s steroidal era. Galento had oldstyle true killer instinct.

Cockell was a "fair ... ( 4 months ago by Aurelian147)
Cockell was a "fair to middling middleweight and an average heavyweight" (in Sugar's words) and Marciano needed nine rounds of pummeling and fouling to stop him. Even then Cockell was still on his feet when the fight was stopped. A disgrace.
And if old ... ( 4 months ago by Aurelian147)
And if old ex-welterweight Archie Moore and old journeyman Jersey Joe can put Marciano on the canvas, Two Ton Tony would keep him there. It would be a blood-soaked foul fest, but Galento's bulk and brawling savvy would pull him though and he'd win by an early KO.

Great Marciano. .see that we have not only carried you the Mafia in the USA. .but also great boxers and trainers like Cus D'Amato and Angelo Dundee. Dundee was a nickname not memory the true Italian name...
Acc to his daughter ... ( 3 months ago by killpolitics)
Acc to his daughter, Rock was pressed by Italian mobsters to throw this fight because of the high odds. She says they came back to him some time after the fight and said they respected him as an Italian. Also...Rock's manager was worried that Rock wasn't training as much as usual. He complained he just couldn't get motivated against Cockell. Rock was at his best when he had to rise to the occasion. And that was what made him the alltime champ of champs.
I dont see too much ... ( 3 months ago by popemalevolent)
I dont see too much fouling by Marciano. He comes in with his head a bit, and lands a few stray low blows, but I wouldnt call it the foul fest that its made to be! To take nine rounds to knock out a fat middleweigtht is suprising though. Cockell took a pounding but im beggining to think Marcianos one punch power was not so much.

i have noticed that marciano does hit behind the head sometimes but he doesnt brake every rule people just try to make up things because rocky was one of the greatest fighters of all time and undefeated
