The likes of Patterson, Liston etc, were all green contenders who had no business getting a title shot against an unbeaten world champion in Marciano. They were just starting their careers. In the meanwhile, Rocky's back problems were becoming so serious that he could barely stand to train at all, let alone fight any longer. These type of fighters never last long. I find it impressive enough that Rocky dominated for nearly 50 fights and 8 years without ever losing a fight. ATG. im not exactly sure ...
