y do people compare boxing with mma its like making a comparison between chess and checkers, mma ya cant bob and weave cuz u'll get kicked in the head, u only need about 20% of what boxing has to offer for mma
That is very true, ... ( 3 months ago by simonvalentino)
That is very true, but Roy would get "smashed" in a mma match with silva.

Personally, I think Sugar Ray Robinson had the greatest left hook.

Well Sugar Ray was the best ever so I could agree
Joe by a landslide. ... ( 1 month ago by showstealer20)
Joe by a landslide. Roy's is good as well but if those two would've fought, Joe's would kill Roy! you see how Tarver's left put Roy on his butt? Joe's would probably knock Roy out the ring lol!
i agree wit it bein ... ( 1 month ago by ricardoparker93)
i agree wit it bein joe as his left hook was incredible. but roys was different it was far faster whereas joe was just like a nuclear missile. robinsons left hook was also fantastic as you can see i believe in his 1956 win over gene fulmer ?
I'd go with Frazier ... ( 1 month ago by TheWraithMan666)
I'd go with Frazier if only for the massive power that went with the hook.
i consider Roy ... ( 4 weeks ago by cctodd2530)
i consider Roy undefeated his only losses were when he was old about 35 and up years of age, besides his other fight against griffen which he was DQ'd i think roy jones jr. is underated when compared to greats
I could kinda agree ... ( 3 weeks ago by miznofizno99)
I could kinda agree with you up to a certain point. I would say that I don't care what it is you're trained in, if you're in a fight, you have to impose your will. So if a boxer comes prepared to box but learns how to defend takedowns and submissions and keep the fight on the feet, then the boxer wins. If the MMA person can avoid or take a few punches to get to the ground, then the MMA fight could win. I thinks it's all about who can make their art the more dominant.
The three greatest ... ( 3 weeks ago by justentime66)
The three greatest middlleweights of all time...Robinson,Haglar and Jones! Robinson evolutionised boxing and every modern fighter emulates him....whether they know it or not! Ali idolised him and that's why he wore the white trunks with a black stripe. He turned the sport into an art and it's that craft and style which most fighters are trained today! Plus, he was as brutal as a mother fucker!
Roy and Robinson at ... ( 2 weeks ago by jmoneypaperstacks)
Roy and Robinson at middle would be a great fight, but it would be unfair, Robinson was like an 1800's ancient fighter, Jones is a modern day athletic specimen. Much more advanced than robinson, but robinson was still possibly the greatest of all time.
Roy is probably the best all around athlete in any sport period, nobody ever touched him in his prime, he was just too fast, it's amazing how a guy that big could be that fast. I am positive if a prime hagler met prime roy, roy would kill him.
I do agree with you ... ( 2 weeks ago by justentime66)
I do agree with you about Roy's great talent, but Robinson evolved boxing from the 1800's ancient fighter style. He was the first to establish the lightning fast jab, dance and move and had savage opposition! He had an amateur record of 85-0 with 69 ko's and a professional career of 128-1-2! Plus, he fought in both the welter and middleweight devision and had unified titles in both. In his prime, a fight with the great Roy Jones would have been a war and talent is talent...no matter what era!
This is true, ... ( 2 weeks ago by jmoneypaperstacks)
This is true, correction, Robinson had over 10 losses, but because he fought past his prime. He did start that style of boxing, the "float like a butterfly sting like a bee" style, but he started it, through every era of boxing, boxers master that style more and more. And there is about 80 years between these guys.
Wikpedia has his ... ( 2 weeks ago by justentime66)
Wikpedia has his record 128-1-2...they may be wrong, but I don't think so. I agree boxing is ever evolving and I would have to give Roy the advantage if they fought in their prime only due to size. He's naturally bigger then Ray, but also was knocked out twice in the heavier weights and didn't have nearly as many professional bouts, but did amazing things in ring!Going from Middleweight to Heavyweight, and for the most part giving his opposition a one sided beating! I'll take nothing from Roy!
Same thing with Roy ... ( 6 days ago by jmoneypaperstacks)
Same thing with Roy, his only flaw was he got old.
