Saturday night in Germany Wayne Braithwaite was in town to be a boxing sacrificial lamb for young cruiser Yoan Pablo Hernandez. Braithwaite, with few other options as a fighter, was forced to travel to Germany and make money in his profession and hope he was not screwed by lousy judging or officiating in a foreign land with no American television coverage.
Referee Jose Martinez did everything he could to assist Hernandez after Braithwaite put him on the floor during the third round. Braithwaite's nightmare of being jobbed in a foreign land almost became a reality. Watch the clip below. Hernandez would fall twice more and Martinez finally stopped
the fight. Braitwaite took an upset victory and dodged controversy. Martinez was assigned by the World Boxing Council (on of the Council's trivial titles was on the line) and the organization MUST respond for his questionable actions. Also the German commission over seeing the bout, FVA, must als
o look into Martinez's performance. I am not questioning Martinez's character, as I have no proof that he was on Hernandez or Sauerland's (promoter) pay roll, but his performance must be evaluated and remedies must be takes so this never happens again. Outraged? Concerned? E-mail the WBC -- info@

if you look closely, just b4 the camera cuts to hernandez the damn ref looks like he was waving "NO KNOCKDOWN"!!! discounting the huge right hand braithwaite landed! then hernandez is on his knees with his hands up like hes standing straight up on his feet like "IM ALLRIGHT!!" you could almost see the ref like "NO YOUR NOT ASSHOLE! YOUR ON YOUR KNEES GET THE FUCK UP!! I GOT MONEY ON THIS!!" then when hernandez is fully up and punch drunk, only then does he point braithwaite to a neutral corner.

see, im glad you said that man, bcuz if your a true fan of the sport, you have got to admit that there has always been some funny shit going on in germany hosted fights. sven ottke whole career was plagued with gift decisions and the edison miranda/arthur abraham NONstoppage was a disgrace! 1st off, to send your fighter out there with his jaw like that was devoid of conscience, and after the jaw was broken, the 3 out of 4 bogus low blows was just atrocious!! that was just plain old home cooking!

I just think it's human nature to help someone. I mean, with the cameras and all the people there, I don't believe he purposely interfered, but he is a ref and if he doesn't understand how to officiate, he should be dismissed. SORRY.
