Gomez does suck, but I sure as hell didn't give Cotto any credit for fightin him. Cotto had, however just been thru tough back to back battles with Judah and Mosley.
I think Cotto deserveed to have a tune-up especially because his next fight is gonna be his toughest to date.
I'd give MoneyMay more credit for Hatton than Cotto for Gomez anyday.
But with Cotto taking on Margarito.. he gets major props for stepping up to the plate.

The truth is somewhere in there. Gomez has a deceptive record because he's a much improved fighter & had a good streak when he fought Cotto. He deserves that much. He probably doesn't deserve so much credit for beating Gatti as Floyd because Gatti was in decent shape when he fought Floyd & was completely outclassed. When Gomez beat Gatti, Gatti was absolutely shot. That's why he retired. If a Gomez could wreck him, being a good fighter but not very strong at all, he knew it was time to go.

Cotto will put Margarito back down to journeyman status, Margarito has no technique, no skill, chin and heart alone won't beat the Cottos and Mayweathers. He's a good fighter, but that's where the line is drawn, he's GOOD. Cotto's skill will carry the day and he'll win a UD in a great fight, and it will set the stage for Cotto-Mayweather. Everybody will be seeing how Cotto kicked Margarito's ass and think he'll do the same to Floyd, fans are easily deceived, which is why Cotto-May will be huge
