Cestus Boxing Ready For Busy Summer Season

ByBoxing Press 16/06/2009

Cestus Management has a busy summer planned for its young talent laden stable of prospects which will see its fighters engage in action through the months of June, July and August.

The summer program kicked off in brutal fashion as this past Friday, June 12, 2009 , the “Barbarian” Jairo Martinez entertained the sold-out crowd in Laredo , Texas , at the Laredo Civic Center.

Martinez (132 pounds) took on tough Laredo native Eddie Ramirez (132 pounds) in a four round match. The obligatory opening “feel out round” was nonexistent as Ramirez came out with his guns blazing attempting to discourage the “Barbarian”.

This tact would not only prove ineffective, but very costly for the Laredo fighter as Martinez withstood the opening onslaught and responded with some heavy artillery of his own. The last thirty-seconds of the opening round were a sign of things to come as Jairo backed Ramirez into the ropes and unloaded merciless shots to both his (Ramirez) head and body.

The remaining three rounds were a vicious display of barbaric behavior as Martinez constantly backed Ramirez up and punished him with a horrific leather assault that brought the crown in attendance to frenzy. In the end, Jairo “Barbarian” Martinez improved to 3-0 with a unanimous decision victory.

The summer boxing program will continue this coming Friday, June 19, also in Laredo , as Cestus Management will feature two more of its top prospects as Robert “Nighthawk” Luna Jr and Rodolfo “Cobrita” Gomez are fighting in separate bouts on the undercard of an ESPN FNF promoted by Banner Promotions.

The fighters will keep the summer heat rolling as on July 11, the quartet of Rodolfo Gomez, Robert Luna Jr., Jairo Martinez, and former Amateur sensation Hector Ramos leads the team on the undercard on a televised boxing event that which will be held in Laredo and shown on Mexican TV.

Closing out the month of July, Super-Middlweight terror Donovan George, who is promoted by the Seminole Warriors Boxing, will be featured on an ESPN FNF boxing event which is sure to be electric. The month of August is in the process of being secured, where the entire Cestus stable will be fighting on dates in different boxing events in the United States .

Gina Iacovou, the company’ CEO , said, “We are excited about our summer programe as our fighters will showcase just the type of talent that we are known to develop. Our stable is young and strong and everyone is showing the development and progress needed to become outstanding professional fighters that will move into the next levels in the not distant future”

Mike Michael, who is the company’s exclusive advisor, said, “Our experience and expertise in the business has allowed our team to find and sign young talented fighters that have limitless potential. When a stable holds a flamboyant brutal power puncher in Donovan George; a vicious offensive fighter in Jairo Martinez; a relentless battering ram in Robert Luna Jr.; an amazing flawless technical fighter in Hector Ramos, and a six foot three inch welterweight destroyer in Rodolfo Gomez, there are no boundaries.”

Michael continued, “We would like to say thank you to the Seminole Warriors Boxing (Leon Magules), Banner Promotions (Art Pelulo, “KO” 1 Entertainment (Ignacio “Nacho” Huizar) and Gente Entertainment (Anthony Velasquez) for their support. So is lock the doors and run for cover!” its gong to be a long hot summer.
