Amanda Serrano vs Cheyenne Hanson Preview: Serrano Returns On Packed MVP Card In El Paso
Most Valuable Promotions heads back to El Paso on Saturday night with a card that’s got a bit of everything on it. World title fights, a Holly Holm appearance, unbeaten prospects getting tested, and Amanda Serrano back in action again while still somehow managing to stay busier than most champions in the sport.
The County Coliseum crowd should be lively for this one too. El Paso has leaned heavily into women’s boxing over the last couple of years and this card feels built for that audience rather than thrown together for TV filler. There are a few genuinely competitive fights here.
Main Event: Amanda Serrano vs Cheyenne Hanson
WBO World Featherweight Title | Featherweight | 10 Rounds
Amanda Serrano (48-4-1) is back defending her WBO featherweight belt against Germany’s Cheyenne Hanson (17-2-0), and while Serrano is obviously the headline attraction here, this isn’t one of those stay-busy fights where the challenger has just been dragged in to survive.
Hanson has earned this shot the hard way and she’ll come in believing she can disrupt things with size, pressure and work rate. That said, Serrano’s experience at elite level is still a huge separator. She’s seen every style imaginable by now and she usually finds a way to drag opponents into the kind of fight she wants.
Serrano also seems to thrive when she’s active. Some fighters wear mileage badly, but she still throws with spite and still fights with the urgency of someone chasing recognition rather than already having it. That mentality is probably why she remains one of the biggest names in women’s boxing.
For Hanson, the key probably isn’t trying to outbox Serrano cleanly over ten rounds. Few manage that. She’ll need to make it uncomfortable, physical and awkward early before Serrano settles into rhythm.
If Serrano gets rolling behind combinations to the body, though, things could get rough late.
Co-Main / Key Fights
WBC World Light Flyweight Title | Light Flyweight | 10 x 2
Lourdes Juarez (39-4-0) defending against Yokasta Valle (34-3-0) might actually be the purest boxing match on the entire card.
Valle has quietly built one of the strongest resumes in women’s boxing and rarely gets enough credit for how technically sharp she is. Juarez, meanwhile, is tough, experienced and knows how to turn fights messy when needed.
This feels like one that could end up surprisingly close on the cards if Valle can’t fully control range and tempo. Don’t be shocked if this steals the show.
IBF World Middleweight & WBO World Middleweight Titles | Middleweight | 10 x 2
Desley Robinson (11-3-0) faces Mary Spencer (10-3-0) in another title fight that has a little edge to it.
Spencer still carries plenty of expectations because of her amateur background, but Robinson has the kind of style that can make a fight ugly quickly if you let her build confidence. Spencer probably has the cleaner boxing overall, though she can’t afford to switch off for stretches here.
There’s pressure on Spencer too. At this stage, title fights aren’t just about winning anymore — they’re about looking convincing.
Other Fights On The Card
Stephanie Han (12-0-0) meets former UFC star and former boxing world champion Holly Holm (34-3-3) over ten rounds at lightweight. Holm still brings plenty of attention wherever she fights, but Han’s unbeaten record and local support make this one interesting. Han will probably try to force a higher pace than Holm prefers.
Yesica Nery Plata (30-3-0) takes on Brook Sibrian (9-2-0) in an eight-round light flyweight contest. Plata’s experience jumps off the page here and she’ll likely be looking to make a statement performance.
Nazarena Romero (14-1-2) faces veteran Maria Salinas (27-14-6) at super bantamweight. Romero has been steadily building momentum and Salinas is the kind of experienced opponent who tends to test whether prospects are actually improving or just collecting wins.
Alexis Chaparro (7-0-0) continues his unbeaten run against Edward Ulloa Diaz (15-7-0) in an eight-round middleweight bout.
Alexander James Gueche (11-0-0) meets Joshua Montoya (7-4-2) at super bantamweight. Gueche has looked sharp lately and this feels like another step forward fight for him.
Miranda Reyes (8-3-1) takes on Camilla Panatta (8-3-1) in a nicely matched super featherweight contest where neither fighter can really afford another setback.
Albina Moldazhanova (3-0-0) faces experienced campaigner Marisa Joana Portillo (21-22-3) over six rounds at super lightweight.
Elise Soto (10-0-0) opens her night against Thalia Joseline Limon (4-1-0) in a four-round featherweight bout. Soto’s unbeaten record makes her one to keep an eye on moving forward.
Closing Thoughts
Serrano is still the centrepiece, but this card honestly feels deeper than a lot of fight nights people hype far harder. Juarez-Valle could end up being the best technical fight of the evening, while Han-Holm brings curiosity value that casual fans will tune in for.
Not a bad way to spend a Saturday night if you like proper busy fight cards instead of three-fight PPV marathons.
