TKO Boxing: Dat Nguyen Added To Pala Casino Fight Card

Sensational featherweight prospect Dat Nguyen has been added to the “TKO World Championship Boxing at the Pala Casino” event, an evening of world class professional boxing set for Saturday, August 22nd at the Pala Casino Spa and Resort in Pala, California.

The all action Nguyen, a native of Bien Hoa, Vietnam, currently living in Vero Beach, California, is trained by former world champion Buddy McGirt. The Pala Casino bout will be his first in Southern California over the course of his five year professional career.

In his most recent bout, Nguyen ran his current winning streak to four with a terrific eight round unanimous decision win over Carlos Hernandez on May 28th at the Arena Theatre in Houston, Texas, a win which raised his record to 15-1-0 (6KO’s). He was led to the ring by the “Mua Lan”, a traditional Vietnamese lion dance designed to exorcise evil spirits.

Said Chet Koerner, President of TKO Boxing Promotions, “Dat put on a great performance in front of a huge contingent of Vietnamese fans who cheered him on in Houston. He truly brings a high level of excitement into the ring.”

The 26 year old Nguyen has brought his fan friendly style of boxing to fans across the country including Atlantic City, Tucson, Boston, Miami, New York City in addition to Houston.

Continued Koerner, “He’s truly been a road warrior, facing the toughest guy in each town. His only loss was by split decision to a hometown fighter in Arizona. The fans in Southern California are for a real treat with Nguyen being added to the card.”

The main event of “TKO World Championship Boxing at the Pala Casino” will feature an IBO Junior Middleweight title bout between Philadelphia’s Anthony Thompson and Grady Brewer, winner of The Contender, Season Two.

Other outstanding prospects previously announced include San Diego middleweight K.J. Noons, 8-2-0 (5KO’s), Mexican junior featherweight Rafael Valenzuela, 12-1-0 (6KO’s), and Los Angeles based bantamweight Leo Santa Cruz, 9-0-1 (2KO’s).

Presented by TKO Boxing Promotions and the Pala Casino Spa and Resort, tickets for “TKO World Championship Boxing at the Pala Casino”, starting at $25, are available through Star Tickets (www.startickets.com, phone 1-800-585-3737).
