Leaving his hometown Tampa gym after a sweltering workout with former world champion Jeff Lacy and trainer of champions Dan Birmingham, heavyweight Lenroy Thomas declared himself fit and ready for his showdown with veteran Gabe Brown on the “Hook City” PPV show on Saturday, August 15th at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Said the 24 year old Thomas, “I’ve had a great camp here in Tampa with Jeff and my trainer Dan Birmingham. Seeing how hard Jeff works has truly inspired me and I’m looking forward to putting on a great performance on August 15th.”
The Jamaican born Thomas has lived in Tampa since he was 13. After losing his pro debut three years ago, he has run off twelve wins in a row, eight by knockout. Brown brings a record of 18-10-4 (12KO’s) into their scheduled six rounder.
Thomas is promoted by Chet Koerner’s TKO Boxing Promotions.
Continued Thomas, “Brown is much more experienced than me, but I truly feel like this is my year. Enough with the talk about Chris Arreola and Kevin Johnson, I’m ready to make my mark this year and show that I’m the best American based heavyweight.”
Said Chet Koerner, “Lenroy has passed each test put in front of him and after this fight we want to get him on a televised bout so the whole world can see what a beast he is.”
Thomas has had two starts this year, most recently knocking out Wes Taylor on April 10th at the Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida . Prior to that he scored a four round shutout of Terrell Nelson on February 21st at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on the undercard of the Miguel Cotto/Michael Jennings Welterweight World Title Bout.
“Hook City” is headlined by two of the best left-hook punchers in boxing, 8-time world boxing champion Roy “Captain Hook” Jones, Jr. (53-5, 39 KOs) and 2-time super middleweight title-holder Jeff “Left Hook” Lacy (25-2, 17 KOs) and is presented by Square Ring Promotions in association with Left Hook Promotions and Beau Rivage Resort & Casino.
