TKO Boxing Signs Prospect Dat “Be Dat” Nguyen

TKO Boxing Promotions has signed all action featherweight Vietnamese prospect Dat Nguyen, it was announced today by its President, Chet Koerner.

The 26 year old Nguyen, a native of Bien Hoa, Vietnam, now living in Vero Beach, Florida, has amassed a record of 16-1-0 (6KO’s) since turning professional five years ago. He is trained by former world champion Buddy McGirt, managed by Jack Luce and co-promoted by Richie Cappiello.

On Saturday, August 22nd, Nguyen thrilled the packed house at the Pala Casino Spa and Resort in Southern California with an electrifying six round decision over Noe Lopez Jr.

Said Koerner, “The fans absolutely love his style of fighting, from the opening bell they were on their feet cheering him on. We had the same response from the fans at our show in Houston in May. Our plan is to keep him very active and showcase him in fights all over the country.

“We’ve had large contingents of Vietnamese fans in Houston and at Pala and they were thrilled to see Dat fight. He’s truly become a fan favorite wherever he fights.”

Said Tuan Tran of TKO, “Dat and I have been talking about working together for years and thanks to Chet and Chris Middendorf it is now a reality. It’s only a matter of time before Vietnam will get its first world champion.

“TKO Boxing welcomes Dat and I believe we now have the best featherweight prospects in the game with Dat, Carney Bowman and Matt Remillard.”

At both Houston and the Pala Casino, Nguyen was led to the ring by the “Mua Lan”, a traditional Vietnamese lion dance designed to exorcise evil spirits.
