Tony Bellew promised “destruction” when he faced dangerous Brazilian puncher Julio Cesar Dos Santos on July 12, 2014 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. In only his second fight at cruiserweight, Bellew was defending his WBO International title vs a seasoned opponent who had never previously been stopped.

Dos Santos arrived with a reputation for durability and power, giving Bellew the chance to make a major statement in his new division. “The Bomber” had already stopped former world-title challenger Valery Brudov in his cruiserweight debut, but becoming the first man to stop Dos Santos would provide even stronger evidence that Bellew’s power had followed him up to 200lbs.
