Misfits Boxing Newcastle Results: Big Stacks Stops Jordan McCann in Two Rounds

Big Stacks settled his bitter rivalry with Jordan McCann by stopping him in the second round of Saturday night’s Misfits Boxing main event at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle.

The conclusion was considerably more decisive than several of the fights underneath it. Jade Jones captured the inaugural MFB women’s super-middleweight title, Harley Benn collected a controversial disqualification victory and Ibiza Final Boss survived a knockdown to squeeze past late replacement Kellen Jenkins.

Big Stacks Stops Jordan McCann

There was no easing into the main event. Big Stacks, whose real name is Charlie Robert, immediately marched forward and began throwing heavy shots at McCann.

McCann attempted to meet aggression with aggression, landing a solid right hand during a frantic opening round, but it was Stacks who imposed himself physically. The pressure and punches quickly began leaving their mark around McCann’s eye.

The swelling worsened during the second round and prompted the referee to examine McCann. With the damage deemed too severe for the contest to continue, the fight was stopped after 51 seconds of round two.

It gave Big Stacks the victory he had promised after months of hostility between the pair. Their rivalry began when McCann punched Stacks during an open workout ahead of Misfits Boxing’s June event, but it was Stacks who delivered the final blow once they were placed inside the ring.

Afterwards, Stacks admitted that McCann had been tougher than expected before calling for a fight with actor and bodybuilder Martyn Ford.

Jade Jones Wins Misfits Boxing World Title

Jade Jones added another prize to her remarkable combat-sports career by defeating Sheena Bathory to become the inaugural MFB women’s super-middleweight champion.

The two-time Olympic taekwondo champion settled into the contest after a scrappy opening round and gradually took control with her hand speed and work rate. Bathory remained willing to trade, particularly during a wild third round, but Jones continued to land the cleaner combinations.

By the fourth, Bathory was bloodied and struggling to escape the pressure. Her corner retired her at the end of the round, giving Jones an official fourth-round RTD victory.

It was Jones’ third successful Misfits appearance and her most significant boxing victory so far.

Harley Benn Awarded Victory After Joe Laws Disqualification

The long-awaited meeting between Joe Laws and Harley Benn ended in controversy after only 49 seconds.

The fighters came together during the opening exchanges and Benn was sent to the canvas by a clash of heads. He appeared badly dazed and was unable to continue.

Rather than ruling the contest a technical draw or no-contest, the referee judged Laws’ use of the head to have been intentional. Laws was disqualified and Benn was declared the winner.

The decision infuriated Laws and drew a predictably hostile response from the Newcastle crowd. After such a short and unsatisfactory ending, calls for the pair to meet again began almost immediately.

Ibiza Final Boss Survives Knockdown to Beat Kellen Jenkins

Ibiza Final Boss, real name Jack Kay, was given a much harder night than expected by short-notice replacement Kellen Jenkins.

Jenkins replaced BBCC Gareth during fight week after Gareth revealed that the discovery of a brain aneurysm had brought his boxing involvement to an end.

The replacement made an immediate impact, flooring Kay in the second round and threatening to spoil the Newcastle favourite’s homecoming. Kay recovered, however, and fought his way back into an untidy but entertaining heavyweight scrap.

Both men tired as the four-round contest progressed, but Kay’s late work was enough to earn a split decision. Two judges scored it 38-37 for Kay, while the third returned the same score for Jenkins.

Afterwards, Kay called for another fight with Jordan McCann, although McCann’s defeat in the main event may alter those plans.

Ashley Rak-Su Gets Revenge on Warren Spencer

Ashley Rak-Su wins against Warren Spencer, taking a five-round split decision in their super-middleweight match.

The judges were divided after another competitive meeting. Rak-Su received winning scores of 48-47 from two officials, while the remaining judge favoured Spencer by the same margin.

Armz Edges Kelz by Majority Decision

Armz Korleone, real name Baffour Boateng, defeated the towering Kelz by majority decision following four competitive heavyweight rounds.

Kelz possessed the obvious advantages in height and reach, but Armz produced the more disciplined performance and found ways to close the distance.

One judge scored the fight level at 38-38, with the other cards reading 40-36 and 39-37 for Armz.

Nitboy Beats Kane West

Nitboy, whose real name is Callum Chester, defeated Kane West by unanimous decision in a lively three-round lightweight contest.

Neither man was particularly interested in a patient technical battle. They traded freely through the final round, with Nitboy landing enough eye-catching hooks and uppercuts to claim all three scorecards by identical margins of 29-28.

Wil Anderson Stops Luke Dyson

Wil Anderson stopped Luke Dyson after one minute and 46 seconds of the fourth and final round.

Anderson steadily took control of the cruiserweight contest before forcing the referee’s intervention with a sustained attack. Dyson was still upright, but was no longer defending himself effectively when the fight was waved off.

Anderson subsequently called for a meeting with Misfits cruiserweight champion Josh Brueckner.

Amelia Hewitt Stops Kimbo Bimbo

Amelia Hewitt opened the show with a third-round stoppage of Lisamarie Hacobian, better known as Kimbo Bimbo.

Hewitt forced the finish after one minute and 29 seconds of the round, with the referee stepping in as Hacobian struggled under the pressure.

Matty Scott Wins Gorilla Prizefighter Final

Matty Scott defeated Grant Mallinson by unanimous decision in the Gorilla Prizefighter tournament final.

The bout was added to the event alongside the advertised Misfits card, with Scott taking the judges’ verdict after completing the scheduled distance.
