Isaac Cruz Knocks Out Nestor Bravo: Full Fight Results

Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz finished the job in the sixth round, but this was not exactly a tidy title fight. Nestor Bravo lost a point for throwing Cruz, hit the canvas two rounds later and was counted out with the champion already miles ahead on every scorecard.

Cruz’s knockout headlined the TGB Promotions card in California, while Daniel Blancas and Eumir Felix Marcial also recorded stoppage wins. Marco Verde had to climb off the floor before producing one of the more eye-catching recoveries of the night.

Isaac Cruz Knocks Out Nestor Bravo in Round Six

Isaac Cruz (29-3-2) retained his interim WBC super-lightweight title by knocking out Nestor Bravo (24-2-0) in the sixth round. Referee Thomas Taylor completed the count at 1:30 after Bravo went down.

It was a rough contest, with Bravo deducted one point for throwing Cruz in the fourth round. That penalty only widened a gap that was already becoming substantial: judges Rudy Barragan, Ed Garner and Fernando Villarreal all had Cruz ahead 50-42 after five.

Bravo needed something dramatic to turn the fight around. Instead, it was Cruz who supplied the decisive moment in round six. No controversy on the cards and no need to hear them read out. “Pitbull” handled business and moved his record to 29-3-2.

Daniel Blancas Stops Sergio Jimenez

Unbeaten super-middleweight Daniel Blancas (16-0-0) knocked out Sergio Jimenez (17-2-1) in the seventh round of their scheduled ten-round contest. Referee Ray Corona called it at 1:38.

Jimenez brought the more seasoned record into the co-main event, but Blancas found the finish and passed another useful test. Seven rounds of work followed by a knockout is a decent night for a prospect still building his way through the division.

Key Undercard Fights

Eumir Felix Marcial (8-0-0) made short work of Omar Ulises Huerta (15-2-1), scoring a third-round knockout at 1:08. Thomas Taylor refereed the scheduled eight-round middleweight bout as Marcial kept his unbeaten professional record intact.

Marco Verde (7-0-0) survived a knockdown in round three before knocking out Guillermo Amilcar Hernandez Saldana (7-1-0) in the fifth. The finish came at 1:46, with David Solivan in charge. Getting dropped and then finding the knockout two rounds later tells us rather more about Verde than another routine win would have done.

Lazaro Francisco Lorenzana (22-0-0) had to settle for a majority-decision victory over Marcos Vazquez Rodriguez (21-3-1) after eight rounds at super-middleweight. Not a clean sweep, then, but Lorenzana remains unbeaten.

Undercard

Diego Luna (9-1-1) outpointed Renny Viamonte Mastrapa (4-5-2) by unanimous decision over six rounds in their super-lightweight contest.

Heavyweight Valerii Tadtaev (6-0-0) needed only one round to knock out Juan Silva (3-2-0). A quick night and no surprise result for the unbeaten Tadtaev.

Robert Guerrero (9-0-0) also ended matters in the opening round, stopping Shawn Rall (4-8-0) by knockout in their scheduled six-round super-lightweight bout.

Cruz left with his belt and a knockout, Blancas kept moving forward, and Verde showed he could respond when a fight suddenly went wrong. Plenty happened before the final bell was ever needed.
