Liam Davies dropped Nathaniel Collins in the opening round and retained his European and WBO Inter-Continental featherweight titles when Collins could not continue after the seventh. That was the headline result in Birmingham, though the stoppages further down the card gave fans plenty to talk about too.

Main Event: Davies Stops Collins After Seven

Davies (19-1-0) made an early mark by putting Collins (17-2-1) down in round one. Collins carried on, but a cut over his right eye ended his challenge: he retired on his stool at the end of round seven, giving Davies a seventh-round RTD victory.

It is a frustrating finish for Collins after fighting his way back from that first-round knockdown. Davies, though, had done enough damage to keep both belts. He arrived as European and WBO Inter-Continental champion and left with both still his.

Co-Main and Key Fights

Luke McCormack (6-0-0) claimed the vacant British super lightweight title with a tenth-round KO of Kay Prospere (16-3-1). A right uppercut put Prospere down, and he was counted out at 1:28. Winning a British belt in your sixth professional fight is some statement.

Other Title Fights

The IBF International middleweight title went to Bradley Goldsmith (17-1-0), who stopped Amir Abubaker (11-2-0) by TKO at 2:42 of round seven. Abubaker had already been down in the fourth and went down three more times in the seventh. There was no coming back from that.

Undercard

Gerome Warburton (18-2-2) got the better of Nathan Heaney (19-3-1) again, winning their ten-round middleweight rematch by unanimous decision. The cards read 97-93, 97-93 and 96-95. For Heaney, who had said this would be his final fight, it was a tough way to finish.

Nelson Birchall (12-0-0) stopped Lewis Morris (11-5-1) by TKO at 1:12 of round three in their super featherweight bout. Morris was knocked down in the third.

At super lightweight, Lasha Guruli (5-0-0) outpointed Hughie Wilson (11-3-0) over eight rounds, taking a 77-75 points decision.

Lewis Richardson (3-0-0) stayed unbeaten with a six-round points win over Ivan Trofimovich (1-4-1) at middleweight. The referee scored it 60-54.

In a welterweight bout, Reese Lynch (5-0-0) beat Joe Hardy (5-51-1) on points over six rounds, 60-54.

Mikael Hussain (5-0-0) edged Nabil Ahmed (3-57-4) by a 39-38 points decision after four rounds at featherweight.

At bantamweight, John Tom Varey (3-0-0) took a four-round points decision over Jake Pollard (1-120-1), winning 40-36.

Davies kept his belts, McCormack picked up his first British title, and Warburton had the final word in his rivalry with Heaney. Three results that will stick from this card.
