Mexican light welterweight contender Arturo “El Silencioso” (English translation: “The silent one”) Morua, continued his climb up the division’s ranks with an impressive win over the hard-charging, Korean punching machine Jung-Bum Kim, which was the main event of last night’s Boxeo De Oro card televised on HBO Latino. Morua (23-6-1, 13 KOs) played the role of the “matador” as Kim (23-3-1 18 KOs) rushed him like a bull all night. “El Silencioso” showed beautiful boxing ability as he put on a clinic using the ring, counter-punching superbly, jabbing with authority to the body and head, and stepping around his opponent’s best punches to take a unanimous decision over ten heats. Morua also showed his toughness and a sturdy chin, by standing in there with the much stronger Kim and trading some heavy leather. With the win, Arturo seems to have secured his fight with WBA light welterweight champion “Vicious” Vivian Harris. As of completion of this article, that fight is slated to be on the under-card of the Gatti vs. Mayweather show scheduled for June 25, 2005.
