Former Royal Marine Commando Alex Clarke has developed an all new extreme fitness and core conditioning system, MilXtreme, which incorporates methods scientifically proven to improve the strength, power, speed and stamina of the athletes, especially pugilistic arts exponents, when in competition.
Alex Clarke joined forces with Rooneys Boxing Gym to not only develop the MilXtreme system, which is based on techniques and circuits employed by Alex Clarke during his military service and combat sport based core conditioning, but to also create a facility for the programme in London.

To accommodate MilXtreme a purpose-built 60 square metre studio, complete with a 5 metre high work frame, which supports climbing ropes, horizontal ropes, gymnastic rings and chin-up bars, has been built at Rooneys Boxing Gyms world class facility located in Holyrood Street, London SE1.
Following one of the initial sessions, at Rooneys Boxing Gym, MilXtreme system creator Alex Clarke explained the birth and concept behind MilXtreme. After my time in the British Royal Marine Commandos, much of it as a fitness and technique trainer, I decided to pursue a career in the civilian personal training and fitness industry.
I came across Rooneys Boxing Gym when I was looking for a gym that offered training in boxing, Jiu Jitsu and MMA, as I am looking to compete in all three disciplines, as well as fitness training for myself.

MilXtreme is a strength and conditioning circuit training system primarily created for professional athletes preparing for competition. Saying that though, MilXtreme also offer group classes which anyone, regardless of experience or fitness level, can do.
MilXtreme is an intensive circuit programme which radically burns fat and calories, not just during the circuit but due to the high intensity of the MilXtreme programme the metabolic rate is increased for several hours after the training. Body sculpting is a major benefit of the programme as MilXtreme clients develop an athletic physique, lean muscle mass not bulky like a bodybuilder. Its very much a fit sporty look.
MilXtreme has a few different circuits, theyre all Military style using different training systems, some of which are the same as used by the Royal Marine Commandos. We also offer sessions in the Tabata and Caveman training systems, which is used by modern day MMA and Martial Art fighters for conditioning.
We have outdoor sessions for group bonding and boot camp days which include running, military style course work etc. Its all good group bonding stuff. Distance log-runs and such like in all weather. Good hard fun stuff, you know wadding waist high in water and slipping and sliding in the mud on time trials.

MilXtreme have developed specific boxing and MMA conditioning circuits that include exercises that is scientifically proven to improve the strength, power, speed and stamina of the athletes when in competition.
Weve got a specifically kitted MilXtreme room here at Rooneys Boxing Gym. Theres climbing ropes, horizontal ropes, chin up bars. Weve got gymnastic rings as well, fantastic bit of equipment that works the stability muscles as well as the predominant muscles when doing dips, pull ups and muscle ups.
Theres tyre flipping, sledge hammer and tyre etc. All those underground type training systems as well as when we go outside we use a lot of own bodyweight stuff, sandbags etc.
As well as that, on a one-2-one basis, we have Olympic bars and teach the Olympic lift exercises. Weve got a full set of kettle bells, which are used both in and out of the circuits and one-2-one sessions.
We offer induction tutorials on kettle bells and the key Olympic exercises for when they do a circuit theyll know that they are doing the exercises absolutely correctly. They dont have to worry about the technique as they would have already established that at the MilXtreme induction tutorial and in the progression reviews.
The MilXtreme classes are suitable for anyone, as long as they are physically fit and well enough to exercise, as we often work on a time period. You may get someone who can do a hundred exercises and at times you may get someone who can only do five.
People should not be intimidated about coming in as we believe in adapting to individual clients ability. The MilXtreme induction tutorials prepare us in advance on each individuals ability and as such we are able to adapt the circuit to suit. Whether the client is a fitness enthusiast or athlete, who really wants to be pushed harder, we have a circuit and programme available that will push them to their limits.
MilXtreme group sessions, lead by Alex Clarke, are currently at 12.30pm on Monday and Wednesday and 6.00pm on Tuesday and Thursday, further times will be added shortly. In addition, to the open group sessions, Alex Clarke is also available for custom sessions for sport teams and corporate groups as well as individual one-2-one sessions at Rooneys Boxing Gym.
