Daniel Dubois Stops Fabio Wardley in Round Two
What a difference five months makes. Their first fight went deep into the 11th round; the rematch was over in the second. Daniel Dubois dropped Fabio Wardley in the opening round, then kept the pressure on until Wardley’s corner threw in the towel.
Main Event
Daniel Dubois (24-3-0) retained the WBO World Heavy title with a second-round TKO of Fabio Wardley (20-2-1). Wardley was down once in the first, and his corner stepped in during the second. A commanding finish from Dubois—and a stunningly short night after the pair’s punishing first encounter.
Co-Main / Key Fights
Louie O’Doherty (12-0-1) and Michael Gomez Jnr (23-2-1) fought to a majority draw over 12 rounds. The British and Commonwealth lightweight titles were on the line, and O’Doherty retains them, but plenty of viewers will feel Gomez did enough to leave with the win. That verdict is likely to be argued over for a while.
Bakhodir Jalolov (18-0-0) stayed unbeaten, outpointing Solomon Dacres (10-2-0) by unanimous decision over 10 rounds. Dacres was down once in the fifth.
Undercard
Nelson Birchall (13-0-0) stopped Levi Giles (17-4-1) in the seventh round. Giles hit the canvas three times, once each in rounds five, six and seven.
Tony Curtis Jr (15-1-0) finished Kerim Agius (6-2-2) by fourth-round TKO. Agius was dropped in the second and again in the fourth.
Leighton Birchall (6-0-0) took a points decision over Alejandro Morales Chazaro (9-10-2) after six rounds.
Manny Safari (debut) marked his professional debut with a fifth-round TKO win over Jake Pollard (1-121-1).
Fawas Aborode (3-0-0) stopped Rashid Omar (8-10-0) in the fourth round.
Adam Olaniyan (5-0-0) handled business against Dan Garber (14-10-0), dropping him twice before a second-round TKO.
Zayn Ahmed (4-0-0) needed just one round to stop Kasey Bradnum (1-51-0), who went down twice in the opener.
Aaron Noriega (3-0-0) beat Leonardo Baez (5-22-0) by fourth-round TKO.
Issiah Hamilton-Allen (4-0-0) earned a points win over Jensen Irving (6-41-2) across four rounds.
Dubois made the loudest statement of the night, but the O’Doherty-Gomez draw leaves the card with a second result fans will be debating.
