Star Boxing: Demetrius Andrade Gives Back To Community

On Saturday November 21st, Providence, Rhode Island’s favorite son, 2007 Amateur World Champion and 2008 U.S. Olympian, Demetrius Andrade (8-0, 6KO) will be holding his inaugural “Knock Out Hunger” turkey drive at the West End Community Center in downtown Providence. Andrade is teaming up with the Community Center to assist needy families this Thanksgiving and holiday season.

“This is an opportunity for me to help out and give back to a community that has given me nothing but love and support throughout my entire career,” stated the undefeated jr. middleweight prospect Andrade who is co- promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing and Banner Promotions.

During these tough economic times, there has been an increase of individuals and families accessing the West End Community Center’s emergency services, and Andrade and the Center are welcoming any and all help in making his inaugural turkey drive a successful one for those people in need.

The Center is accepting food and/or monetary donations to help fulfill their goal. The contributions can be dropped off at the Center or sent by mail to 109 Bucklin Street, Providence, RI, 02907, ATTN: Demetrius Andrade’s Knock Out Hunger. Checks can be made payable to West End Communicty Center, Inc. Office hours are from 9 AM to 5PM Monday through Friday.

“Work together, to make life better, that’s my slogan. I am working hard to make this first annual charity event a successful one, so these people in need in the Providence community can have a happy holiday, just like they deserve,” stated Andrade.
