WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler of Denmark tipped the scales at 167 pounds, one pound under the division limit while undefeated challenger Andre Ward of Oakland flexes after weighing in at 166.5 pounds during the weigh-in Friday at the Oakland Airport Hilton Hotel.

Kessler (42-1, 32 KOs) and Ward (20-0, 13 KOs) will clash for Kessler’s WBA 168-pound title in the first Super Six World Boxing Classic Group Stage 1 bout for each boxer. The scheduled 12-rounder will emanate from the Oracle Arena in Oakland.
The bout will be televised today on Showtime at 10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast.
Kessler-Ward is the first Super Six fight on American soil. The Europeans held serve in the opening Group Stage 1 fights Oct. 17 on Showtime, with Arthur Abraham knocking out Jermain Taylor and Carl Froch outpointing Andre Dirrell in Germany and England, respectively.
The referee for Kessler vs. Ward is Jack Reiss of California. Judges are Micheal Hook of Sweden, Stanley Christodoulou of South Africa and Steve Morrow of California.
