Frank Maloney Boxing: Haskins Ready For Toughest Ever Test

Lee Haskins has been told that his double title battle with Commonwealth super-flyweight champion Don Broadhurst will define his career.

The Bristol southpaw’s British title will also be on the line the pair clash at Newport Leisure Centre on Friday night.

Manager Chris Sanigar said: “If Lee wins this fight it will open up a lot of doors for him at a higher level.

“Once he gets Broadhurst out of the way he will have cleaned up domestically and deserve to be on a bigger stage.

“This is a career defining fight for Lee as it will raise his profile so much because of the hype around Broadhurst.

“Lee is a 25-year-old approaching his prime and I feel he has the maturity to cope with Broadhurst.

Haskins (19-2) who will be making his second defence of his title has also been nominated for a crack at Euro flyweight champion Andrea Sarrituza.

He has been told that fight is safe whatever the outcome against undefeated Brummie Broadhurst (11-0)

Sanigar added: “It is not all or nothing against Broadhurst, but a victory could catapult him towards a world title fight also.”

Also in action are Olympic bronze medallists, Tony Jeffries (4-0) and David Price (3-0)
