Former WBC heavyweight Champion Oleg Maskaev will be risking a title eliminator for a shot at titleholder Vitali Klitschko when he takes on Dominican native Nagy Aguilera Saturday morning in Moscow, Russia.
The action will be televised this Friday night on www.NESportsTV.com
“I miss the action already”, Maskaev said recently expressing his desire to get a fight in before the year is up risking his title elimination bout, “I feel confident and I’m in good shape.” He would add.
With the legendary Roy Jones blowing a mega fight against rival Bernard Hopkins by losing an interim fight against Australian Danny Green last week, Maskaev knows not to take any chances by taking his opponent lightly.
“Nagy Aguilera has a good amateur background. He has a good chin, but that’s what we’re gonna check”, said Maskaev about his opponent this Friday.
“I’m looking for a good hard fight and I’m ready for this guy”.
The following day in Switzerland, the current WBC heavyweight champ V. Klitschko will defend his title against American Kevin Johnson. Maskaev has not fought either men as pros. However, he did compete against Klitschko as an amateur and he remembers their fight well.
“I stopped him in the first round because his trainer threw the towel into the middle of the ring and stopped the fight”, said Maskaev, “I hurt him a couple of times in the first round and I think they realized he didn’t have a chance and that was it.”
Before Maskaev gets a chance at a rematch with Klitschko in the pro ranks, he’ll have to get by Aguilera this Friday on NESportsTV.com
