IBO Mourns Loss Of South African Boxing Star Mlungisi “Killer Shark” Dlamini

International Boxing Organization lightweight champion Mlungisi Dlamini died on Friday, Jan. 29, after an automobile accident in his native South Africa. He was 27 years old.

A 5-foot-10 right-hander nicknamed “Killer Shark,” Dlamini became an IBO world champion in what turned out to be his final fight – stopping countryman Zolani Marali in three rounds to capture the vacant 135-pound belt at Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park.

IBO President Ed Levine was deeply affected and saddened by the sudden loss of this champion, whom he felt had unlimited potential. The IBO extends its sincere condolences and sympathy to his family.
