Khan Avenges; Turns Professional.

Britain’s amateur star Amir Khan successfully gained his revenge over Cuban Mario Kindelan tonight in Bolton, England with a clear-cut points decision. The final tally read 19-13 for the Bolton teenager and silver medalist as he avanged his loss over Kindelan, the very fighter that denied him gold in the Athens final last year. With the win, it was finally announced that Khan is to turn professional under the Sport’s Network banner, and the guidance of British promoter Frank Warren. Khan will enjoy the services of Warren, who took such names as Naseem Hamed, Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton to great heights in their respective careers. Khan’s first professional fight is scheduled to occur on the under-card of the Skelton-Williams British heavyweight title fight in July, and it is hoped that Khan’s favorable position in the affections of the British public might bring about something of a boxing revival.
