Boxing Result: Nakash, Diaz, Glazkov Win In Philadelphia

ByBoxing Press 15/07/2010

Wednesday night saw an international fight card staged at The Arena in Philadelphia as Ran Nakash, Felix Diaz and Vyacheslav Glazkov scored impressive victories to highlight a seven bout card promoted by No Limit Promotions in association with Joey Eye Boxing.

This card was the first show of the new Comcast boxing series that will be shown all over the country via tape delay.

In the main event, Nakash was methodical in pounding out a ten round unanimous decision victory over rugged Victor Barragan in a cruiserweight bout to remain undefeated at 25-0.

Nakash and Barragan worked on the inside with Nakash using both a nice right hand and dropping in some nice uppercuts along the way. Nakash bloodied the nose of Barragan as early as round three from those right hands that he followed behind a pinpoint jab.

Nakash will now look for a September showdown with former two-time world title challenger, Bobby Gunn.

Barragan, who took the fight after former Light Heavyweight champion Lou Del Valle pulled out ten days ago showed extreme toughness despite the blood dripping from his nostrils for most of the fight.

Nakash, who is ranked thirteen by the WBC won by scores of 99-91, 97-93 and 96-94 raises his unblemished mark to 25-0. Barragan is now 11-6.

The co-feature saw 2008 Olympic Gold Medal winner, Felix Diaz of the Dominican Republic remain perfect with a stoppage thirty-five seconds in to the eighth and final scheduled round of his Welterweight bout with Broderick Antoine.

Diaz showed terrific technical skills as he jabbed and showed great hand speed and formed a cut over the right eye of Antoine. Antoine showed a lot of guts, especially early in the fight as he worked hard on the inside before Diaz seized control in the middle rounds while the cut worsened over the right eye. With the victory, Diaz is now 6-0 with four knockouts.

2008 Olympic Bronze medal winner Vyacheslav Glazkov was very impressive in stopping local favorite Mark “Oak Tree” Brown at 2:41 of round three of a scheduled six round Heavyweight bout. After a non-descript first round, Glazkov showed good hand speed in catching Brown with some sharp right hands.

In round three, Glazkov scored with three hard right hands that wobbled Brown for which Glazkov followed up with a heavy barrage on the ropes that forced the refer to stop the bout in the final seconds of round three. Glazkov of Lugansk, Ukraine is now 6-0 with four knockouts.

Ran Nakash:

“I prepared for a month and a half for a southpaw in Del Valle and Just a week before they cancelled Del Valle and put in Barragan. He is a fighter who goes forward all the time and I have to get used to going ten rounds. He prepared for my right hand so he was moving his head to his left to get away from it

“I hope to fight Bobby Gunn in September. I saw him fight Adamek and he is a tough guy. I think he could be my toughest fight but that’s ok. I want to go all the way to the top so I need a tough opponent”

Felix Diaz:

“The fight was ok. Antoine was a good fighter. Its one more win on my way to win the world championship. It’s the work of the managers and promoters to move me towards a world championship. I hope it’s quick

“I like the people here in Philadelphia. It was a good crowd of people. I want to thank the promoters, commission and all the people who organized this event”

  • Where does Usyk go from here? 27/05/2026
For once, I’m totally on board with the WBC. WBC moves to shut down Usyk-Verhoeven rematch talk I personally have NO wish to see a rematch between Rico and Usyk. Call it defensiveness of our sport. Just like I thought Fury’s narrow escape against Ngannou was cringeworthy… I also feel a sense of dread that we came “this close” to having a kickboxer defeat the […]

  • Why was Usyk so bad? 27/05/2026
What was the major factor for Usyk to perform so poorly against Rico? Rico better than expected, skilled kick boxer, huge size, awkward style, surprise element? Age of Usyk finally showing up? It could be speculated that at some point Jai could follow t […]
