Bury ring ace Scott Quigg will challenge for a vacant international super-bantamweight title when he returns to action in his hometown next month.
Quigg, 21, will face a selected opponent at Castle Leisure Centre on Saturday September 25, with the show being filmed by Hatton TV.
Bury council recently lifted a boxing ban to help Quigg achieve his dreams and a 1000 sell-out crowd are expected to roar him on in his big fight.
His promoter Ricky Hatton said: “I am excited about all my fighters, but Scott’s progress has been incredible.
“Boxing fans know a good fighter when they see one and that is why Scott sold out the venue when he last boxed in Bury.
“Now Hatton Promotions are delighted to bring top class boxing back to the town again. I am hoping Scott will contest a WBA international crown, but that and the opponent should be confirmed in the next week or two.”
Quigg who is unbeaten in all 19 professional fights is also closing in on a British title fight after winning an eliminator over Gavin Reid last month.
Hatton added: “The British title shot is coming and Scott is ranked at number three by the EBU, but this keeps him busy and gives him championshop experience.”
Fighters on the undercard include Tom Doran, Jez Wilson, Kieran Maher, Graeme Higginson and Jack Perry
