Canadian boxer, Steve Molitor, narrowly retained his IBF super bantamweight title against British boxer Jason Booth in a thrilling bout over the weekend.
Molitor received the majority decision from the judges even though Booth had taken a large advantage in the early rounds.
Molitor managed to put up a strong rally towards the second half of the fight by utilizing the jab and hitting Booth on the body. This victory now gives Molitor an impressive 33-1 record with 12 knockouts.
This was Booth’s first loss since July 2007, ending a string of eight straight wins. For Molitor, this bout was his first title defense since taking back the IBF belt earlier this year against Takalani Ndlovu.
The final judge’s score: 116-113 (in favour of Molitor), 116-112 (in favour of Molitor) and 114-114.
