European Boxing News: Ulrich, N’Dam, Tajbert, Braehmer

ByBoxing Press 22/09/2010

German light heavy Thomas Ulrich returns to action October 9 in Hamburg. There are according to Bild many reasons for the comeback of the former European champ and world title challenger and they all spell money. Ulrich was at his best a very good boxer / puncher who for some reasons never reached his full potential.

The Hassan N´Dam vs Avantandil Khurtside clash for the vacant WBA “regular” title at middleweight October 30 in Paris marks the official promotional debut for Sebastien Acaries, son of Michel Acaries. The younger Acaries has signed a deal with French network TV Direct 8 for five shows a year.

WBC super feather champ Vitali Tajbert is reportedly on for a defence November 29 at Nagoya, Japan, against Takahiro Aoh.

Tim Hoffmann clashes against Alexander Petkovic October 23 in Riesa for the vacant WBO European heavyweight title. It´s in an all-German matchup between two fighters who have seen better days.

Petkovic was at one time a teenage prospect in Universum later losing a majority decision to Johnny Nelson in a fight for the WBO cruiser crown. Petkovic´s career came to a brutal end at the hands of French underdog Kamel Amrane in 2006. However, Alexander has since plugged away at small shows licensed by the GBA.

European Union light heavy champ Nadjib Mohammed defends the titla October 8 in Les Pennes Mirabeau against Belgian Djamel Selini, who comes in as a substitute for Michael Sweeney.

What´s next for WBO light heavy champ Juergen Braehmer? There are now rumors of fights against Librado Andrade, mandatory challenger Nathan Cleverly and WBA ruler Bubeit Shumenov but nothing official or concrete on the table.

Swedish heavy Andreas Gustavsson will now face Croatian Jakov Gospic in Karlstad September 24. The fight is with special permission from the Martial Arts Delegation scheduled for six three minute rounds. Gospic replaces John Poore, who in turn replaced Claus Bertino.
