Former WBA lightweight champion Paulus “The Hitman” Moses (25-1, 17 KOs) will be back in action on Thursday in his hometown of Windhoek, Namibia, facing Argentine challenger Sergio Omar Priotti (22-7-1, 8 KOs).
Moses traveled to Japan in 2008 and defeated then-champion Yusuke Kobori to win the WBA lightweight crown. In his last appearance on May 29, Moses lost his title by sixth-round knockout in a showdown against then-WBA interim lightweight champion Miguel Acosta.
Anxious to get back to winning after suffering the first defeat of his career, Moses is looking forward to redeeming himself inside the same venue where he lost his title, the Windhoek Country Club Resort & Casino.
“It is important to me to perform well in front of my fans,” Moses said. “I know I let them down in May and this is where the road begins that will take me back for a chance to regain my title.
“I will win this fight for all of my supporters in Namibia, and then I want my promoter Don King to bring me to America to fight on one of his big cards there.”
Moses was born in Okapya and now resides in the Namibian capital of Windhoek.
