Hennessy Boxing: Tyson Fury Added To Pascal vs. Hopkins Fight Card

ByBoxing Press 12/9/2010

Towering Irish/British heavyweight prospect Tyson Fury will make his highly anticipated North American debut on Saturday, December 18th against New York City based Puerto Rican giant Israel “King Kong” Garcia in an eight round bout.

Fury has just completed a three week training camp in Austria with heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and his new trainer Emanuel Steward.

“Camp with Wlad was terrific, it gave me a great deal of confidence to train alongside such a champion” said Fury. “I’m in terrific shape and very happy to be fighting on such a stellar bill with Pascal and Hopkins.”

Although this will be only be his thirteenth fight, Fury has big plans for the new year.

“I’m ready right now to face a top twenty heavyweight weather it’s in North America or in Europe. No one really wants to fight me but I’m ready to challenge anyone, I’m not interested in waiting around.”

Promoter Mick Hennessy of Hennessy Sports is very enthusiastic about his rising star’s upcoming fight in Quebec City. “I believe Tyson Fury is going to be a major star of world boxing in the future, so it’s only fitting that he should make his North American debut on such a prestigious World Title card. Fighting on such an important show in front of a huge crowd in Quebec City is a terrific opportunity for Fury to make a major statement.”

With his piston like jab and huge artillery of powerful hooks and crosses, the 22 year old Fury has quickly become one of the world’s most talked about fighters.

Standing 6’9”, Fury has amassed an unblemished record of 12-0-0 with nine knockouts since turning professional two years ago. Starting off 2010, Fury thrilled the fans in Huddersfield, England with a trademark brutal stoppage of Hans-Joerg Blasko in the first round on March 5th.

Fury followed that up on June 25th by dropping long time British veteran John McDermott three times enroute to a ninth round stoppage, earning the vacant BBB of C. English Heavyweight Title and the mandatory position to fight for the prestigious British Title.

In his most recent bout on September 10th, broadcast in America on Showtime, Fury dominated previously undefeated 12-0 Rich Power for an eight round unanimous decision at York Hall in London, a fight in which Power was lucky to hear the final bell.

Intent on derailing Fury’s express train, Garcia is a more experienced brawler from New York City, who boasts a record of 20-3-0 with eleven knockouts.

Fury, however, is not about to let anyone get in his way towards his ultimate goal of becoming the Heavyweight Champion of the World. “The fight on December 18th is just a first step to big things from me in the near future. I’m ready to be unleashed.”

Catch all of the action on Primetime Channel 480 beginning at midnight on December 18th for only £9.95.

The Fury/Garcia special attraction is featured on the undercard to the Light Heavyweight World Title bout between Canada’s Jean Pascal and boxing legend Bernard Hopkins at the sold out Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City and will be broadcast live on Primetime – Sports PPV Channel 480 on Sky. The stacked card of boxing action begins at 12:00 AM GMT and is available for £9.95.

Callum Smith has pulled out of the David Morrell fight which was due to take place in his hometown Liverpool on 18rh April. I was looking forward to this fight. • Errol Spence v Tim Tszyu - June 2026 4/7/2026
The clash between Spence and Tszyu had reportedly been lined up to take place in June. Tim did suffer a cut in his bout against Nurja, which could potentially delay proceedings. I am concerned that Spence has not fought for years now and having no warm up. This may show that he has not much left and cashing in. Tszyu secured a one-sided unanimous decision wi […]

Negotiations for a WBO and WBA welterweight unification clash between Devin Haney and Rolly Romero have reportedly collapsed. Organisers had planned for the fight to headline a PBC event on May 30, live on Amazon Prime PPV. Haney has turned down the fight. The reason for Haney pulling the plug is that he wasn’t offered a guaranteed purse. PBC instead propose […]

Rene’s not talked about much. Even here in Puerto Rico he’s not as well known as Xander Zayas or even Oscar Collazo. But he’s got 2 of the 4 belts in the division, and tonight he defends them against Masataka Taniguchi in Japan. Gotta hand it to him. This is his 3rd straight fight in Japan. I admire any fighter who’s willing to go halfway around the world to […]
