8 Count Boxing: The King And The Bull At Windy City Fight Night 14

Longtime Chicago favorites “King” David Estrada and Angel “Toro” Hernandez are featured in separate headlining bouts on Friday, December 17th at the UIC Pavilion as part of Windy City Fight Night 14, a sensational evening of professional boxing.

Mexican “blood and guts” warrior Hernandez will face off against heavy handed Osumanu Adama of Ghana in a twelve round battle for the IBO International Middleweight Title.

Having faced numerous world champions and contenders all over the country, Hernandez, 30-8-0 (17KO’s) has earned the nickname of “Toro” having consistently entertained fight fans with his aggressive all action style of boxing.

In Chicago he is among the most popular fighters over the last ten years, drawing legions of fans from all across the city.

In one of his most memorable bouts, Hernandez engaged in a legendary war on October 13, 2007, with Chicago South Sider Louis Turner at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.

Drilling each other with heavy handed, damaging power shots and with fans standing and cheering enthusiastically throughout the eight round bout, Hernandez was battered, bruised and victorious by unanimous decision at the end of the caveman like battle.

A native of Accra, Ghana, Adama earned the respect of Chicago boxing fans earlier this year with a sensational eight round battle on April 30th with Chicago’s Donovan George.

Broadcast on Showtime, their eight round slugfest thrilled the huge crowd at the UIC Pavilion from start to finish.

Over twelve rounds, the Hernandez and Adama matchup promises fireworks from the opening bell.

Also featured, “King” Estrada returns to his hometown of Chicago against Colombian Franklin Gonzalez following one of the finest performances of his ten year career as he dismantled undefeated and very highly regarded Mexican prospect Orlando Lora on April 10th in a bout broadcast on ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights.

Drilling Lora, who came into the bout with a record of 26-0-1, with battering ram body shots, Estrada hurt the prospect in every round, resulting in a doctors stoppage at the end of round nine.

With a record of 24-6-0 with fifteen knockouts, Estrada and Gonzalez, 13-6-0 (9KO’s) will see action in a ten round welterweight battle.

Gonzalez is coming off an eight round tilt with former world title challenger Dmitriy Salita in Brooklyn, New York on September 1, 2010. Although dropping a unanimous decision, Gonzalez battled successfully the entire bout resulting in many ringside observers to view him as the victor.

Also featured in separate bouts are local favorite: junior welterweight Adrian Granados, 4-0-0 (2KO’s), cruiserweight contender Carl Davis, 14-3-0 (11KO’s), junior middleweight Donatas Bondoravas, 10-1-1 (3KO’s), junior lightweight prospect Evgeny Gradovich, 6-0-0 (5KO’s) and middleweight prospect Lamar Russ, 5-0-0 (5KO’s).

Starting at $31, tickets can be purchased in advance through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com) and the UIC Pavilion Box Office (312-413-5740). Tickets are also available at all Chicagoland Cermak Produce and Shop & Save stores.

Doors on the evening of the event will open at 7pm with the first bell at 8pm.
