European Boxing News: Bonsu, Licina, Cunningham, Krasniqi, Klitschko

Belgian “Sugar” Jackson Osei Bonsu continues his way back to the top February 20 with a fight against the ever dangerous to be announced. Then April 1 in Gent the former European welter champ will take on Sweden-based Karlo Tabaghua.

Jackson is looking to be back in title contention at the end of the year. Osei Bonsu, 33-4, suffered tough losses in the last two years against Randall Bailey, Selcuk Aydin and Rafael Jackiewicz.

Sauerland´s show in Neubrandenburg January 22 features two underdogs as challengers in the main fights. Enad Licina faces IBF cruiser champ Steve Cunningham and compares himself with Rocky Balboa in the first Rocky movie going into the fight with a everything to win, nothing to lose attitude.

Medhi Bouadla, down from super middle to take on IBF middleweight king Sebastian Sylvester feels he is in with a 50/50 chance for a win but it will be a big upset if he pulls it off.

K2 now have three shows in three months scheduled beginning with Luan Krasniqi vs Jonathon Banks February 26 in Ludwigsburg. Then comes the cracker, Vitali Klitschko against Odlanier Solis March 19 in Cologne in a fight where the mighty Klitschko is in against a genuine contender. Finally, Wladimir Klitschko takes on Derek Chisora April 30 in Mannheim.

WBO European lightweight champ Eduard Trojanovski will defend the title March 19 in Halle an der Saale. Opponent is Muzaffer Tosun. The 30-year old Trojanovski, from Russia and not pro until 2009 in one to watch and impressed in stopping veteran Matt Zegan last time out. Also on the bill in Halle is featherweight Artem Ayvazidi, who began his pro career in Sweden and was then signed up by K2 East but is now with 8M-Box Promotion in Halle.
