Golden Boy Boxing: Solo Boxeo Fight Card This Friday In Indio

Ghanaian knockout artist Bastie Samir has yet to let a professional opponent see the third round and after a stellar 2010 campaign, the 2008 Olympian will continue his march to the top of the middleweight division in undercard action at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California this Friday, January 14.

Also featured on this stacked card will be Fairfield, Calif. prospect Manuel Avila, exciting East Los Angeles lightweight Ramon Valadez and a female fight between Ava Knight and Gloria Salas.

“The talent on this show is top notch from top to bottom and, in my opinion, includes some future World Champions,” said Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar de la Hoya. “I can’t wait to take in all the action from ringside at Fantasy Springs.”

The event will be headlined by the ten round junior middleweight main event between unbeaten rising star Erislandy Lara (14-0, 9 KO’s) and Arkansas’ Delray Raines (18-8-1, 13 KO’s) and will also feature a six round junior welterweight contest pitting East LA phenom Frankie Gomez (7-0, 6 KO’s) against the Bahamas’ Hensley Strachan (5-8-1, 1 KO), as well as Coachella’s own, rising junior featherweight prospect Randy Caballero (6-0, 4 KO’s) who risks his perfect record in a six round fight against an opponent to be announced.

This night of world-class professional boxing is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and is sponsored by Cerveza Tecate and AT&T. Doors open at 6:00pm PT on fight night, the first bell rings at 7:00pm PT and the TeleFutura broadcast begins at 11:30pm ET / PT (10:30pm CT).

Tickets, priced at $25, $35 and $45 are on sale now and available for purchase at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, by calling (800) 827-2946 or online at www.fantasyspringsresort.com.

Unbeaten in seven pro fights, former Ghanaian amateur star Bastie Samir (7-0, 7 KO’s) made a huge statement in 2010 with four big knockout wins. Fresh off of a second round stoppage of Billy Cunningham last November, the highly-touted 24-year-old wants to keep his knockout streak going when he takes on Philadelphia’s Greg Hackett (2-4) on January 14 in a six round bout.

Also in action will be Fairfield featherweight prospect Manuel “Tino” Avila (1-0), who takes on Manuel Ortega (1-3) of Seattle in a four round fight. A former amateur star with nearly 50 wins, Avila made his professional debut under last November with a shutout victory over Alexis Hernandez.

Local favorite Ramon Valadez (4-1, 1 KO) began his professional career last year and quickly compiled an impressive record while competing on Golden Boy’s “Fight Night Club” cards in his hometown of Los Angeles.

Now, the 20-year-old stablemate of Frankie Gomez, is ready for the New Year and more challenges, beginning with his four round clash against Ensenada, Mexico’s Pablo Cesar Garcia (3-6, 1 KO) at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.

Also on the card will be a female junior bantamweight bout, with Chino’s Ava Knight (5-1-2, 2 KO’s) taking on local favorite and Palm Springs native Gloria Salas (3-5-1, 1 KO) in a six round bout.
