Arena Boxing: Ahmet Oner Rubbishes Vitali Klitschko

ByBoxing Press 1/15/2011

The contracts for the WBC heavyweight championship between Vitali Klitschko and Odlanier Solis have been signed this week. The fight will take place on March 19th at Cologne’s Lanxess Arena. Solis’ promoter Ahmet Oner is looking forward to the fight and convinced that his fighter will end the Klitschko’s reign.

“It’s about time that somebody shows Vitali and Wladimir how overrated they really are“, says Oner. “A German newspaper stated that Vitali laughs about Solis. The Klitschkos display such an incredible arrogance. On March 19th Solis will make Vitali stop laughing and start suffering for his autocratic manners. The Klits and their management tried to avoid this fight. They tried everything they could not to fight Solis.

“They tried to pull tricks on the WBC Convention last November and even last week before the deal was finalized and only one day before going into a possible purse bid they still tried to sneak out. I believe that his management also wanted to avoid facing one of my fighters again. Their only problem is: Now the deal is signed and the fight will go ahead – unless Vitali decides to pull out on short notice because of some fake injury. You never know with these guys. Still Solis and I made it. We have reached the point where we always wanted to be. Now we’ll do the final step and strip the belt from Vitali.

“In an interview Vitali stated that he respects Solis. Well, good for him. We don’t respect Vitali. He’s a weak world champion who only beat weak opposition. In his only real tough fight against a world class opponent he lost to Lennox Lewis – although Lennox was way past his prime at that time.

“Since Vitali came back out of retirement in 2008 he only fought living sandbags. He celebrated himself as all time great champion although he merely was the one-eyed king in the land of the blind. His brother is avoiding his toughest test against David Haye as well and fights a no-name tomato can like Chisora instead. I read Wladimir called Haye a ‘piece of sh*t’. Now that’s something. That’s as if I would call somebody a ‘crazy Turk’. I didn’t even know that a true gentleman like Klitschko ever uses a bad word like sh*t. Well, Solis will find a way to end all this b*tching around.

“My Cuban sensation will beat all these overrated douchebags Vitali, Wladimir and then Haye one after another to unify the heavyweight championships. Solis’ fight against Vitali marks a historical turning point ending the Klitschko era.“

  • Callum Smith injured 4/7/2026
Callum Smith has pulled out of the David Morrell fight which was due to take place in his hometown Liverpool on 18rh April. I was looking forward to this fight. Ben Whittaker will be headlining the event now. talksp […]
  • Errol Spence v Tim Tszyu - June 2026 4/7/2026
The clash between Spence and Tszyu had reportedly been lined up to take place in June. Tim did suffer a cut in his bout against Nurja, which could potentially delay proceedings. I am concerned that Spence has not fought for years now and having no warm up. This may show that he has not much left and cashing in. Tszyu secured a one-sided unanimous decision wi […]

Negotiations for a WBO and WBA welterweight unification clash between Devin Haney and Rolly Romero have reportedly collapsed. Organisers had planned for the fight to headline a PBC event on May 30, live on Amazon Prime PPV. Haney has turned down the fight. The reason for Haney pulling the plug is that he wasn’t offered a guaranteed purse. PBC instead propose […]
  • Rene Santiago to defend his WBA and WBO junior flyweight belts in Japan 4/2/2026
Rene’s not talked about much. Even here in Puerto Rico he’s not as well known as Xander Zayas or even Oscar Collazo. But he’s got 2 of the 4 belts in the division, and tonight he defends them against Masataka Taniguchi in Japan. Gotta hand it to him. This is his 3rd straight fight in Japan. I admire any fighter who’s willing to go halfway around the world to […]

What is happening between AJ and Usyk? They were seen holding hands as Usyk was showing AJ graves of Ukrainian soldiers. Is this just mind games to help AJ gain confidence to […]
