Arena Boxing: Solis Training At High Altitude For Klitschko Title Clash

While WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko hasn’t even started his preparation for his next title defense on March 19th in Cologne, mandatory challenger Odlanier Solis and his team have already spent one week in their high altitude camp.

“La Sombra“, his trainer Pedro Luis Diaz and Jose Perez arrived at the Sierra Nevada only one day after the press conference. The three-time world amateur champion and 2004 Olympic gold medalist is currently training above 2.500 meters (8,000 feet) to get ready for his first world title shot in the pro ranks.

“On March 19th we will see the best Odlanier Solis since he turned pro in 2007“, says coach Pedro Diaz. “We have perfect conditions here in the mountains. I have been here a couple of times with different athletes. It’s a perfect place to get in perfect shape.“

The team will stay at the high-altitude camp until the end of February and do the first sparring sessions in the Sierra Nevada before returning to Cologne for the last phase of preparation.
