Golden Boy Boxing: Santa Cruz Replaces Lane On Fight Night Club

With a hand injury forcing Lanard Lane to withdraw from his scheduled February 24 fight against Jessie Vargas, former Lightweight World Champion Jose Armando Santa Cruz has stepped up to face the unbeaten Las Vegan in the main event of the 2011 premiere of “Fight Night Club” at L.A. Live’s Club Nokia.

Former WBC Lightweight Interim Champion Jose Armando Santa Cruz (28-5, 17 KO’s), has earned his stripes during his 11-year professional career by battling boxing’s best, including former world champions Joel “El Cepillo” Casamayor, Zab “Super” Judah, David Diaz and former world title challenger Edner Cherry.

The 30-year-old Los Angeles native has won two of his last three bouts (with his lone loss over the stretch coming to Judah) and a win over the highly-touted Vargas (13-0, 7 KO’s) will put him right back in the mix at junior welterweight.

“Fight Night Club” is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and AEG and sponsored by DeWalt Tools. The series will return to L.A. LIVE’s Club Nokia on April 28, May 26, June 23, August 25, October 27 and November 18.

The evening’s professional fights will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net (FSN) and its regional sports network affiliates (check local listings) and streamed live online at www.RingTV.com

at 8:00 p.m. PT/11:00 p.m. ET. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. PT and the first bell rings at 7:00 p.m. PT.
