Boxing In Ireland: US Prospect Lee Training In Dublin

Notre Dame Boxing Champion Mike Lee has touched down in Dublin, Ireland where he will resume training under the tutelage of renowned trainer Ronnie Shields over the next two weeks.

Lee has traveled to Dublin as part of world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux’s camp which also includes his co-trainer Creed Fountain and strength and conditioning coach Brian Caldwell.

WBA Super Bantamweight Champion Rigondeaux will defend his title against Willie Casey on Saturday, March 19th in Dublin.

In addition to his training, Lee is planning on some sightseeing in Dublin, this being his first trip to Ireland.

The 23 year old top light heavyweight prospect improved to 4-0-0 (3KO’s) with a first round destruction of Pablo Gomez on Saturday, February 26th at The Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas . The knockout victory came in front of a packed house of Notre Dame alums and Chicagoland supporters.

Details of Lee’s next bout are expected to be announced shortly.

A native of Wheaton, Illinois, Lee graduated in 2009 from the University Of Notre Dame at the top of his class with a degree in finance. While at Notre Dame, Lee won the school’s Bengal Bouts boxing tournament three years in a row.

After winning the Chicago Golden Gloves, Lee was signed by Top Rank Incorporated.
