Despite all of the talk concerning unified WBO/WBC lightweight champion Diego Corrales fighting a rematch with Jose Luis Castillo or engaging in battle with newly cronwed IBF light welterweight champion Rciky Hatton, it seems as though Brazilian superstar Acelino “Popo” Freitas might jump the queue ahead of everyone. Freitas, who has fought only once since losing to Corrales last year in the Brazilian’s first defeat, reportedly intends to exercise an option in the initial fight contract he signed with Corrales, one that guarantees him a rematch. Freitas was handily winning his fight against Corrales before the Mexican/American champion came on strong in the late rounds, dropping Freitas three times for the Brazilian puncher stood up and declared he wanted no part of the contest in the tenth round.
