Irish Sensation Andy Lee In Chicago Gunning For Alex Bunema

ByBoxing Press 17/05/2011

Andy Lee, Irish Kronk middleweight fighter, currently ranked # 3 in the WBA , # 9 in the WBC and # 13 in the WBO rankings will be in action again against Alex ‘The Technician ‘ Bunema this Wednesday evening, May 18 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois, United States.

Lee (25 -1, 19KOs) will be gunning for KO # 20 on his career record sheet as he trades punches with the tough and durable Alex Bunema (31-7-2, 17 KOs) in a 10 round battle for the NABF and NABA Middleweight Championship Titles.

In his seasoned career, Bunema has faced formidable opponents in fights with Sergio Martinez, Jermain Taylor, Kassim Ouma, and Bronco McKart and he also holds wins over former world champions Roman Karmazin and Vince Phillips.

As Lee pursuits his world title ambitions he plans to consolidate his position in the world rankings by staying busy and gaining valuable experience on his way to the title.

Lee has been training at the Detroit Kronk Gym from shortly after his successful win against the formerly unbeaten world ranked Craig McEwan. Lee commented ‘I’m hungry and ready for fight night on Wednesday; my preparations have gone really well with plenty of sparring, roadwork and gym work.’

‘Bunema is a crafty seasoned veteran and will be coming prepared for a hard fight. Lee commented ‘I’m in excellent shape to beat him and will put on a good performance for the fans and capture the NABF and NABA titles.’

Lee’s Manager and Trainer, Emanuel Steward commented ‘Andy has trained hard for the fight and we have added a little extra strength and conditioning to his preparations for the fight, so he ready and prepared for action.’

‘Alex Bunema has plenty of experience, but Andy has had 26 fights now and he is becoming an experienced fighter with power and technical skill. I expect a competitive fight with Andy winning by KO.’

Tickets for the ‘Rosemont Rumble’ are $100 ringside and $30 general admission and are available through Ticketmaster, the Rosemont Theater Box Office or Fanfueled.com (search Hitz Boxing). Donald E. Stephens Convention Center is located at 5555 N. River Road.

The fight will also be broadcast on www.NESportsTV.com online PPV for just $12.99. All of the fights on the card will air internationally at a time to be announced on the night of May 18 and again on May 19 at a time more suited to time zones in Ireland.
