A Tale Of Two Pablos Headlines June 25 Mexican Fight Card

ByBoxing Press 22/06/2011

Domo Del Mar, in Ciudad Del Carmen, Campeche Mexico, will be the site for the June edition of Televisa’s hit boxing series “Sabados De Corona,” as Mexican sensation Pablo Cesar “Demoledor” Cano, looks to extend his unbeaten streak on Saturday, June 25 in a 10 round lightweight bout against his fellow countryman Pablo Lugo.

The vacant NABA super bantamweight title will be on the line in the co-featured bout of the evening, as Guadalajara’s Victor Terrazas squares off against Colombian contender Feider Viloria in a 12-round fight.

21-year old Tlalnepantla native Pablo Cesar Cano (21-0-1, 16 KO’s) made the leap from prospect to contender in June of 2010 when he scored a 10 round decision win over Oscar Leon which earned him the NABF junior welterweight title.

Not content to rest on his laurels, “El Demoledor” kept the momentum going in his first bout of 2011, stopping Jorge Romero in just four rounds. He is currently ranked 13 in the world by the WBC and looks to keep moving up the rating throughout 2011.

Home to scores of world champions, Los Mochis, Sinaloa Mexico’s latest hot prospect is Pablo Lugo (20-4, 16 KO’s), a power punching lightweight looking to halt the rise of Pablo Cesar Cano on June 25. Blessed with an iron chin and steel fists to match, Lugo has won two in a row, including a ninth round technical knockout over Noe Morales last July that earned him the inaugural WBO Mexican title at 135 pounds.

A patient warrior whose time has come, 28-year-old Victor “Vikingo” Terrazas (29-2-1, 16 KO’s) has only lost once since 2003 and he’s starting to get the opportunities he’s been waiting for his entire career. Currently on a four fight winning streak, Terrazas is coming off of a 12-round win over Nehomar Cermeno in a WBA title elimination bout and, with a win over Viloria, he will move ever closer to a shot at a world championship.

Super bantamweight contender Feider Viloria (24-8-1, 16 KO’s) is eager to face the best opposition possible as he tries to secure a 122-pound title shot. A two-fisted puncher with impressive power, Viloria, a professional since 2002, bounced back from recent consecutive losses to Irving Berry and 2004 Olympian Gary Russell Jr. with a six round win over Luis Cardozo in April and now has his sights set on Victor Terrazas and the NABA title and.

This stellar doubleheader headlines a hard-hitting night of boxing presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Canelo Promotions and sponsored by Corona. The Televisa broadcast begins at 10:30pm CT. Doors open at 6:30pm and the first bell rings at 7:00pm CT.

The fights will also be available in the United States as AT&T is exclusively delivering the series across three screens (TV, Online and Mobile) to AT&T U-verse members. The U-verse broadcasts will air live at 9:30pm ET/6:30pm PT on AT&T U-verse TV, U-verse Online at www.att.net/boxeo and, for subscribers to the U-verse Live TV mobile application, on qualifying mobile phones.
