United Boxers Show At DC Star Nightclub July 16

ByBoxing Press 28/06/2011

Advance tickets are now on sale for the next United Boxers Event on Saturday, July 16th at the D.C. Star Nightclub with another evening of world class professional boxing featuring the area’s finest prospects and contenders.

Headlining will be undefeated super middleweight prospect Alexander “The Great” Johnson, 11-0-0 (4KO’s) of Oxon Hill , Maryland with rising star Emmanuel “The Tranzformer” Taylor, 12-0-0 (9KO’s) of Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland in the co-featured junior welterweight bout.

As part of the evening festivities United Boxers will honor two of the area’s legends in boxing, former world champions Mark “Too Sharp” Johnson and Sharmba Mitchell.

Said Chris Middendorf of United Boxers, “When I was managing fighters, the area was ruled by a group of area world champions; Mark Johnson, Sharmba Mitchell, Keith Holmes and William Joppy for starters. This show in DC is our effort to honor the area champions at the same time as we focus on the younger generation.”

“With the younger pro fighters working in the area today and on this card and the huge group of top amateurs coming of age, this area clearly has some of the best talent in the country.

“Our goal is to showcase the younger fighters while paying homage to the great fighters of recent years. They deserve all the praise that we can give them, and the hope is that they will help shine the spotlight on the young boxers as they mature. And hopefully some of them will become world champions.”

“This is a first of a series that will not only showcase more of the tremendous talent in the area, but will also pay tribute to other champions from the area.”

Other fighters featured include Light Heavyweight Dale “Hit Hard as Hell” Robeson-EL, 6-0-0 (4KO’s), of Randallstown, Maryland, Suitland, Maryland cruiserweight Venroy July, 6-0-2 (2KO’s), featherweight Thomas “KO” Snow, 14-1-0 (9KO’s) of Capitol Heights, Maryland, sensational junior middleweight prospect Alantez Fox, 4-0-0 (3KO’s), Alexandria, Virginia, featherweight Jerren Curren, 2-0-0 (2KO’s) and pro debuting junior middleweight Jacey Thompson in separate bouts.

Following the fight, fans will also be treated to a sensational after-party at the D.C. Star presented by Fly Fella’s Productions, featuring a live performance by D.C.’s hottest female group, Be’la Dona in addition to Sugar Bear, DJ Battle, DJ Frisco, DJ Jealousy and a special performance by the legendary James Funk.
