Torres vs. Alexander Headlines September 14 Newark Show

On Wednesday night September 14th, Gulfstream Boxing Promotions and Gabe LaConte will present the second installment of the Wednesday Night Fights Series at the Robert Treat Hotel in downtown Newark.

In the main event, Michael Torres of Jersey City, New Jersey will take on Mark Alexander in an eight round Jr. Welterweight bout. Torres has a record of 13-2 and will be looking to get back in the win column after suffering his first two pro defeats.

He won his first thirteen bouts in a row which included wins over Keenan Collins (4-0); Eli Addison (8-1); Charles Wade (4-1); and Gilbert Vera (9-1-1). He is coming off a six round defeat to John Williams (6-1-1) on October 29th, 2010.

Alexander will be coming all the way from London, England and will be sporting a record of 10-5 with one knockout. He has been in the ring with former world champion Michael Brodie and holds a win over undefeated Michael Devine (3-0). He is coming off a knockout defeat to Ryan Barrett on September 11, 2010 in London.

A full undercard has been assembled that will feature some terrific veteran’s and top prospects. Grizzled veteran Carlos Vinan will see action in an six round Lightweight bout.

Vinan of Newark, NJ via Ecuador will a record of 10-9-4 into the ring but he has beaten some top prospects such as Orlando Gonzalez (4-0-1); former Olympic alternate Eric Hunter (5-0); Andrew Cancio (8-0-2); Victor Vasquez (11-3); Anthiny Mazzache (18-5-3). Vinan has drew with Lonnie Smith (4-1-1); Carlos Madrid (4-1-1); Eloy Perez (8-0-1) and Anthony Flores (8-0-1)

Cruiserweight Max Alexander will take part in a six round bout. Alexander of Camden, New Jersey has a record of 14-5-2 with two knockouts.

Alexander was fixture in the PA/NJ circuit before taking his act on the road and facing top competition around the world. Alexander won his first fourteen bouts with one draw. Before joining the Contender Season 3 where he dropped bouts to former world title challenger Sam Soliman and Brian Vera.

Has last three bouts have been contested in Russia, Germany and New Zealand with his most recent bout taking place on October 3, 2009 when he dropped a six round unanimous decision to Moyoyo Mensah.

A full undercard will be announced shortly but already announced to see four round action are: Welterweight’s Vinny O’Brien (2-1, 2 KO’s) of East Hanover, NJ; Thomas LaManna (4-0, 3 KO’s) of Millville, NJ ; will be fighting for the BAM Youth Jr. Middleweight title; Heavyweight Tyabb Beale (4-3, 1 KO) of Newark, NJ; Heavyweight Scott “MMA” Flairlamb (5-0, 2 KO’s) of Butler, NJ; Heavyweight John Lennox (6-0, 3 KO’s) of Carteret, NJ; Middleweight Eddie Edmonds (2-1-2, 2 KO’s) of Newark, NJ will take on Thomas Baldwin (2-0-1,1 KO) of Newark, NJ; Lightweight Tyrone Luckey (4-1, 4 KO’s) of Middletown, NJ and rounding out the card will be Jon Bolden (2-2, 2 KO’s) in a Heavyweight bout
