Adam Etches believes teaming up with the renowned Ingle family will help take him to the next level. The unbeaten Sheffield light-middleweight prospect splits his training time between Bob Shannon’s HQ at Hatton Health and Fitness, Hyde, and the Ingles – Wincobank gym. Brendan and Dominic Ingle have been brought in after Etches recently split with Andy Marlow.
Big ticket seller Etches bids for his fifth pro win when he tangles with Belarusian Yauheni Abdurazakau at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge Arena on Saturday 24th September.
The main event on the Sky televised bill sees Dewsbury’s Gary Sykes bid to win a Lonsdale belt outright when he risks his British super-featherweight title against Cardiff’s Gary Buckland.
Etches, 20, said: “Andy did a top job with me, but I was going a little stale. I will always be grateful to him. I am sure the Ingles and Bob will keep me improving towards title level.
Everybody knows the Ingles and although their way of training is different to what I am used to, they have been brilliant. They are adding another string to my bow by improving my footwork and teaching me how to deal with slippery fighters. I am so lucky to have them and Bob and by using two gyms I have the best of both worlds and I look forward to going training every day.”
Abdurazakau, 23, has won eight of his 14 bouts and Etches added: “He has never been stopped and is a tough kid.”
In the chief support, former European champion and WBC world title challenger – Rendall Munroe meets Ryuta Miyagi in a non-title ten rounder.
Etches’ fellow steel city prospects – Scott Jenkins, Richard Towers and Jezz Wilson, are also on the big bill. Adam’s stablemate – Towers, also faces Belarusian opposition in the form of Yuri Bihoutseu.
Jenkins – who has sold 300 tickets – bids for his second professional win against a selected opponent. Wilson faces Deeside’s exciting light-middleweight – Tom Doran in a battle of Hatton-promoted hopefuls.
Another Sheffield fighter, Commonwealth light-heavyweight challenger – Billy Boyle, faces Welsh banger – Justyn Hugh. Manchester’s former amateur star – Tommy Stubbs, makes his pro debut when he faces tricky Kuwaiti – Anwar Alfaldi, who boxes out of Ingle’s stable.
