Packed Undercard Supports Caballero vs. Santiago

Before unbeaten hometown hero Randy Caballero looks to make it 8-0 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif. when he battles Puerto Rico’s Arturo Santiago in defense of his WBC Youth Intercontinental super bantamweight title in the main event of “Solo Boxeo Tecate” on Friday, December 2, a host of local stars on the rise will take to the ring to make their case as future headliners in the Coachella Valley’s hottest boxing venue.

In the co-main event, scheduled for eight rounds in the lightweight division, don’t blink when Blythe knockout artist Andrew Cancio faces an equally dangerous foe in Mexico’s Fernando Carcamo.
.
23-year-old Andrew Cancio (11-1-2, 11 KO’s) has yet to go the distance in any of his professional victories and he’s not about to start now. Winner of three in a row since his lone professional loss in 2008 to Carlos Vinan, Cancio needed just four rounds to knock out Lowell Brownfield at Fantasy Springs in August.

He battles Ciudad Obregon’s Fernando Carcamo (9-2, 6 KO’s) who is sporting a winning streak of his own, having put together five straight victories, and plans to keep his streak intact on Friday night.

Coachella’s popular Angel Osuna (6-3-1, 5 KO’s) is back and will be looking for a knockout once again when he takes on Riverside’s John Worthy (1-1) in a four round junior middleweight contest.

Unbeaten junior welterweights will take to the ring as well, when Palm Springs’ own Kenny Williams (2-0, 1 KO) battles Los Angeles’ Joaquin Chavez (1-0, 1 KO) in what promises to be an intriguing four round fight.

A four round junior lightweight battle pitting Pasadena’s Osman Rivera (0-1) against Santa Ana’s Jose Garcia (0-1) will also be featured , as will Reno flyweight Oscar Vasquez (1-0) meeting Vicente Medellin (0-1) of Riverside in a four round contest.

Caballero vs. Santiago is an 8 round fight for Caballero’s WBC Youth Intercontinental Super Bantamweight title and is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and sponsored by Cerveza Tecate, DeWalt and AT&T. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. PT on fight night and the first bell rings at 7:00 p.m. PT. The December 2 broadcast will air on Galavision beginning at 10:00pm ET/PT (9:00pm CT).

Fans at home can also be part of the action by participating in Cinturón Tecate and voting for the fighter in the main event who displayed the most character in the ring by sending a text message to 55333. Voting will be open through the end of the weekend.
