8 Count Boxing Celebrates 14 years February 24

Chicago’s 8 Count Productions will celebrate fourteen years with Windy City Fight Night 21, another evening of world-class professional boxing set for Friday, February 24th at the UIC Pavilion.

Featured at Windy City Fight Night 21 are two outstanding clashes, a junior lightweight battle between former world title challenger Edner “Cherry Bomb” Cherry and hard punching Puerto Rican native Guillermo “The Vampire” Sanchez along with a Chicago cross-town showdown with welterweights Adrian ‘EL Tigre” Granados of Cicero, Illinois clashing with Franklin Parks’ Jaime “The Truth” Herrera.

“It’s an honor to have promoted professional boxing for Chicago sports fans over the last fourteen years. We’ve had the pleasure of promoting many outstanding events with world class fighters over the years” said Pesoli.

The first 8 Count Productions event took place on February 20, 1998, at the Park West Theatre on the Near North side of Chicago.

Continued Pesoli, “I remember it very well, Rocky Martinez stopped Henry Mobley and Angel ‘Toro” Hernandez won a decision over Jake Torrance.”

“Our commitment right from the start has been to put on great fights in the ring and a fun evening for the fans. Our event on February 24th continues this legacy.”

Speaking further about Windy City Fight Night 21, Pesoli said “Cherry is a world class fighter but we’ve put him in with a very tough Puerto Rican kid in Sanchez who can’t wait to hit town and get after Edner. Granados and Herrera have been on a head-on course since their highly decorated amateur days.

“They never fought as amateurs and have a professional respect for each other, but once the bell rings the fans are going to see a terrific battle.”

A full undercard of action packed bouts will be announced shortly.

Advance tickets, priced at $31, $51, $76 and $101 are available through Ticketmaster, (www.Ticketmaster.com
), the UIC Pavilion Box Office (Phone 312-413-5740) and the 8 Count Productions Office (312-226-5800).

Doors on the night of the event will open at 7pm with the first bell at 8pm. The UIC Pavilion is located at 525 S. Racine, at the corner of Harrison and Racine, just one block south of the Eisenhower Expressway in the West Loop area of Chicago.
