Interim Champ Magee Gets Shot At Balzay’s WBA Belt

The World Boxing Association approved September 22 as the new date for the mandatory fight between the regular champion, the Hungarian Karoly Balzay and the Interim Champion Brian Magee.

The promoters requested the new date approval.

At first, the mandatory battle would take place on July 7, but a delay of Balzay to sign the contracts and unavailability of TV date caused the modification on the date.
The WBA championships committee based on its authority to modify defenses lapses approved the request of the new date due to the unforeseen circumstances.
