Undefeated Raja Amasheh Wins First Title In Germany

Germany has a new champion in women’s boxing, as local favorite Raja Amasheh captured her first professional title by lifting the vacant World Boxing Federation Intercontinental Flyweight championship on Saturday night, October 27, in Sankt Ingbert.

Amasheh beat former world title-challenger Fleij Djendji from Serbia by unanimous decision, and improved her impressive unbeaten record to 14-0-1 (3). Djendji is now 14-15-1 (8).

The new champion took control from the get-go, and Djendji was quickly marked in the face and boxed most of the ten rounds with a badly swollen left eye. But the action was good and fast, and while Amasheh always had the edge and pressured her opponent, it was an entertaining battle between well-matched boxers.

In the end the judges scored the bout 100-89 (Bernd Hupfer) and 100-90 twice (Alexander Plumanns and Uwe Lorch). Referee was Herbert Urich.

The show, held at the Industriekathedrale Alte Schmelz in Sankt Ingbert, was promoted by Oliver Heib and his Dog Event Boxing, and featured five more professional bouts.
