Froch Says Mack Fight Could Be His Last At Home

ByBoxing Press 01/11/2012

Carl Froch has told his fans to lift the roof off the Capital FM Arena when he defends his IBF super middleweight title against Yusaf Mack live on Sky Sports on November 17 in ‘True Brit’.

Only 500 tickets remain for The Cobra’s first defence of the belt he ripped from Lucian Bute in his stunning fifth round stoppage in his hometown fortress in May.

Fans have snapped up over 9,000 tickets for their hero’s ninth consecutive World title fight and Froch says his fans can once again make the difference against the American.

“The atmosphere against Bute was absolutely electric – the best I’ve ever boxed in front of,” said Froch. “Mack will not have seen anything like it in his life. When he gets in there, he’ll be all alone and the noise when I walk to the ring will be deafening, the fans will raise the roof for me.

“I’m in fantastic shape and itching to get in there again. The Bute fight was special and the best night of my career, but there’s no chance I’ll take my foot off the pedal on November 17. Yusaf is a dangerous customer and he has nothing to lose coming here and everything to gain.

“Yusaf has fought for a World title at light heavyweight twice and is going to be doing everything he can to prove himself at super middleweight.”

With a rematch against Bute still on the cards, and grudge rematches against Andre Ward and Mikkel Kessler in Froch’s future, the 34 year old admitted this could the last chance for his hometown fans to see him box in Nottingham.

“If the Bute fight happens it will be in Canada and rematches with Ward and Kessler could well happen in America and Denmark, so this could well be my last fight in Nottingham,” said Froch.

Froch and Mack headline a great night of boxing in the east Midlands, with Tony Bellew aiming to seal a second World light heavyweight title shot with an WBC eliminator against Argentine Roberto Bolonti.

There’s an exciting array of young British talent on display as 2008 Olympian Kal Yafai steps up to eight rounds of bantamweight action after four fights in the pro ranks, Scotty Cardle faces Joe Elfidh in his first eight round contest and boxes for the eighth time in eight months as a pro while Cardle and Yafai’s former GB teammate Martin J. Ward tastes his third night of action in the paid ranks.

Former European middleweight champion Kerry Hope boxes on the show ahead of his fight with Darren Barker on Betfair’s ‘Christmas Cracker’ night on December 8 at the Olympia in London, Birmingham middleweight Ryan Aston returns to action against Tyan Booth and unbeaten Nottingham featherweight Leigh Wood faces Gavin Reid.

Tickets for ‘True Brit’ are on sale now priced £40, £60, £80, £120 and £200 from the Capital FM Arena Box Office on 08444 124624 and at www.capitalfmarena.com – VIP packages are available exclusively from Matchroom Sport on 01277 359900 and at www.matchroomboxing.com
