Aussie Rivals Geale, Mundine Rematch For IBF Crown

ByCorey Quincy 16/11/2012

On Wednesday, January 30, local rivals Daniel “The Real Deal” Geale (28-1-0 15 KO’s) and Anthony “Choc” Mundine (44-4-0 26 KO’s) face off for Geale’s IBF Middleweight title strap.

Over the last few months, Mundine and Geale have tossed multiple insults at each other. One of the more notorious quotes occurred in October at a the press-conferences in which Mundine reportedly dishonored Geale’s Tasmanian descent, allegedly saying that Geale doesn not deserve to wear the Aboriginal flag on his shorts and widely insulted the entire community.

This has lead on to the generic boxing-babble of both men shouting to the local Australian press that they will knock the other out. Mundine says the only way he will lose is a “robber” and Geale promises a knockout, a result which he isn’t all that known for.

Over the last few days, general bout info was also announced. The contest will take place at the Entertainment Centre in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia live on popular PPV channel Main Event.

As the website of Main Event is not fully updated yet, we cannot tell exactly how much the PPV ill sell for but it is projected that they will be around $50.00, as with virtually all other events. Tickets go on sale on Ticketmaster on November 16.

Geale is a solid high volume puncher, even at age 31, and he has managed to defeat many solid opponents such as Felix Sturm, Daniel Dawson, Sebastian Sylvester and more, just on a high-paced work rate and tremendous stamina.

Mundine is an old, awkward-styled veteran. He likely has more power than Geale and can confuse him quite a bit as proven in the first fight which left the only blemish om Geale’s resume with a close split-decision loss.

Can Geale outwork Mundine to a decision? Or maybe a late finish? Or will Mundine’s tricky veteran grit steal him a victory? Tune in on Jan. 30th on this big Gary Shaw Boxing show to find out! A strong undercard featuring quality local talent will be announced very soon.
