Salido Leads Star-Studded Tripleheader Tonight On HBO

Promotional rivalries have scrapped some of the biggest fights in recent history of the Sweet Science, making this card so unique and intriguing.

On tap is Mexican warrior Orlando Salido and energetic powerhouse Mikey Garcia facing off in the main event, powerful Kazakh Gennady Golovkin facing Gabriel Rosado and entertaining volume puncher Roman Martinez facing the always game Juan Carlos Burgos on HBO, this is surely a fight card for the ages.

The massive event features many major promoters. Top Rank Boxing in Association with K2 Promotions, Zanfer Promotions, Thompson Boxing [Martinez vs. Burgos only], and Main Events [Golovkin vs. Rosado].

The main event is extraordinary. WBO Featherweight titleholder Orlando “Siri” Salido is a dauntless brawler. Heavy endurance and power have guided him into multiple upset wins over the years after early lapses, including a pair of stoppages over Juan Manuel Lopez. Mikey Garcia is much more poised, gradually working his way into late power fledged assaults that rarely allow opponents to hear the final bell.

The co-headliner is also interesting, as WBO/IBO Middleweight beltholder Gennady Golovkin has a slicing right hand that has crashed most opponents to the canvas within the first half of his fights.

However, Gabriel Rosado is on a roll, ripping through victories over fringe contenders Charles Whittaker, Jesus Soto Karass, Sechew Powell amongst others over an impressive seven-fight win streak.

The televised opener features Roman Martinez against Juan Carlos Burgos. As previously noted, Martinez is a fast paced volume puncher who thrives with little physical power to push his opponents into defeat. Burgos is a sturdy fighter with good power, enough that if he gets the chance he can upset the gutsy WBO Super Featherweight beltholder.

From the most freakishly hardcore boxing scribe to the casual sports fan, this is a not to be missed night of fights. I am an admitted critic, but the staging of this bill leads me to believe this card is special. A real peach, you might say.

Each contest has interesting disparities between the combatants that line them up so well, crossing paths on paper stylistically.

Be sure to catch the undercard featuring fan friendly Irish-American Seanie Monaghan against Roger Cantwell, Canadian prospect Mikael Zewski against American fringe contender Brandon Hoskins, NJ based thriller Glen Tapia against veteran Ayi Bruce, talented Kazak Isa Akberbayev, debuting Olympian Felix Verdejo and more on Toprank.com!
